Leeds 2 - Wolves 1 the what did we expect verdict thread

Mick has his team nine points above us, they've been above us all season, his budget is tiny and he's had injuries to key players to contend with, just as we have. Rowett has had Blues above us all season, at a push you might pick three players from their squad that you'd want down here and they're in a shocking state ownership wise. Both those clubs will fall short but have put together a semi-coherent challenge for the playoffs, something which should be our absolute bare minimum standard in this division, something even Hoddle managed in his only full season (despite appalling entertainment value...same as Jackett has served up but the latter with far worse results) and something that we haven't even remotely threatened to do at any point since August. Along the way, only Charlton and Bolton have won fewer home games than us this season.

The squad isn't brilliant but the manager is the biggest problem we have when it comes to on field matters. Overwhelmingly so.

What are you "learning" Kenny that you shouldn't already know? Siggy can't play up top on his own? Edwards behind the forward will offer little creatively? Helan is a trier, but lacks ability? Henry hasn't any pace so relies on sporadic delivery to create chances? Ikeme is having a shocking season? Batth's distribution is woeful? Iorfa has regressed in the last 12 months? Jack Price is less effective in a 2? The rhombus is a shite formation with our personnel?

Please Kenny tell me what NEW thing you have learnt from this evening?

You should also be ashamed that as full of shit as he is Steve Evans can say with a degree of legitimacy that they should have scored 7 against you, yes that's Steve Evans

Just got back. Limp performance, in a similar vein to so many this season. We don't protect the ball in midfield, we have a lone striker feeding off scraps and who cannot hold the ball, for non existent midfielders playing off him, along with shoddy marking for both goals.

Decent goal from Saville after a heart in the mouth moment from Ikeme, but coming away from the game, there is very little about the current setup that excites me for the future.

We should be walking away with a point which is silly to say, Mason missed a complete sitter one on one a couple of minutes after Saville's goal. But in reality we deserved to lose.

Oh, and that's 3 wins in 17 games now. Yeah, we've had injuries, yeah, Afobe went in the middle of the season (which is a strategic error by those above the manager). That's an unacceptable return though in this division in any circumstances, he's still got and had resources that loads of other clubs in the league would dream of. To put it into context Neil Warnock has won six out of the last ten with a dismal Rotherham squad.

Pound for pound, Kenny Jackett is the worst performing manager in the Championship this season and by some distance.

And that includes those who have been sacked!

there are currently 10 players in our main squad who I wouldnt care if they never kicked a football for us again. Add to that KJ and Thelwell , Moxey and Morgan and that proves a wholesale clear out is required. We are absolute pish at the moment, but have been all season. It started shit and only went downhill from there. So to put it in context Neil Warnock- pilloried by many and much disliked here- has Rotherham safe and looking good and probably winning against us this week! I really really hope noty but given how shit we have been playing and their form its not unlikely.

There was a match today?

Unfortunately yes. You can predict what happened though

Ikeme beaten from 25 yards- Tick
Ikeme lets one in the middle of the goal- tick
Jackett plays the prolific Siggy who hasnt scored since Churchill was a lad- tick
Leeds Centre half scores best goal of his career- Tick
Jackett fails to play the kids preferring loan players who wont be here next year- tick
No shot on target in the first half for the third time this month- Tick
Insipid, disjointed bang average to poor performance by a poor team led by a poor manager with awful tactics -tick
Jackett bangs on with drivel in post match press conference- tick

Sorry I cant do better than that

I only needed two ticks, tbh.

1) It was boring. *tick*
2) We lost. *tick*

just to make your day complete our record against the might of Preston Leeds Brentford and QPR reads played 8 won 0 Drawn 2- Lost 6 F 8 A 17 ,pts 2. Disgrace. and our record against the teams above us currently is 3-9-13 24/42 pts 18.

To put it in perspective MK dons record against those same sides occupying the top 13 places currently is played 23 w 3-d6-l14 (15 points) Charltons is 7-4-12 (25 points) Bristol City is 4-8-13 (20 points) Rotherham 10-4-11 (34 points). Wolves are also the highest placed team that relegated Bolton have beaten this season.

by contrast Burnleys record against the sides below 10th place currently is 19-6-1 so pretty ruthless.

Sheffield wednesday have not beaten any of the teams currently above them

Henry missed a one on one in the first half which was harder to miss than score.

If we're counting missed chances Chris Wood should've had a first half hat trick.

Looks like it was a bullet dodged! At least you have some eternal memories of leeds to offset the match.

Ikeme - 4 - Dodgy throughout, shocking distribution, almost got tackled in the build up to our goal and let the 2nd go straight through him. Another 2 points he's cost us.

Iorfa - 5.5 - Played within himself, messed up once at the end but managed to recover.

Batth - 4 - Bullied by Wood in the first half.

Hause - 6 - Pretty decent performance. One of the few to come out with any credit.

Doherty - 6.5 - Our best defender and almost scored a good goal after a slaloming run in the 2nd half.

Henry - 3.5 - Dreadful. His touch deserted him all game. Actually managed an assist at the end but it doesn't cover up a truely woeful performance.

Edwards - 4 - Completely anonymous. When we went 4-4-2 they just walked through him.

Price - 4 - Ditto Edwards. Has to stamp his authority on the game if he's going to be effective.

Saville - 7 MOTM - Lovely finish, our most creative player on the night. Has to play further forwards, he didn't really offer much in a deeper role but as soon as he had a bit more freedom he looked like he had something about him. Never a winger though.

Helan - 6 - Didn't do much wrong. One decent cross.

Sigurdarson - 5.5 - Feeding off scraps. Worked hard and got pelters from our fans everytime he failed to create something with 4 Leeds defenders around him.

Alfie - 5 - Lovely touch in the build up to the goal. Apart from that offered nothing.

Mason - 4 - Missed a 1v1 to tie the game.

Jackett - 0 - Cost us the game. The change to 4-4-2 killed us. How has he not worked out that the rhombus doesn't work yet? Another opportunity missed to give Hunte/Enobakhare a chance as well.

Apparently Price did not have the best of games. I think I know what that means. Back to the bench on Saturday.

Two predictions: Siggy will be offered a new contract. Jackett will try to sign Chris Wood in the summer

Chris Wood can't shoot for shit but he actually played quite well aside from that judging by the highlights.
