A jury decides guilt on a yes or no basis taking reasonable doubt as guidance. You change that and you have to rip it up and start again.
Plus you would return to the original Victorian problem that you would get a huge increase in mistrials and non-verdicts as it only takes one anti-death penalty juror to refuse to convict and you have at best a majority verdict.
Jury trials are a load of nonsense anyway if that documentary where they put two unknowingly groups side by side in the same court room is anything to go by, as they got different Verdicts.
Bit like brexit, giving people power to make a decision they aren’t really qualified to make is a bit stupid. What’s the answer, don’t know. Just let the judge decide or a panel of judges
