Just how good were/was/is/are (Wolves Edition)

Viewing someone based on a political View, is as bad as basing someone on the colour of their skin.

You choose your political views. You can’t choose your skin colour. Appalling false equivalence.

I’m more than happy to judge people who’s politics lead them to see me as lesser because of my sexuality, or someone who might view someone of another race as lesser. These aren’t wild hypotheticals, they’re day-to-day life for many of us. Look out the window sometime.

I’m not sure politics would lead someone to judge your sexuality? Religion maybe?

Really? Right wing / conservative politics go hand in hand with homophobia.

Don't think thats true is it? I know some politically right leaning people who are definitely not homophobic, in fact at least 2 gay people whose politics are right of centre

You never know if Tredman is being serious or not .

I'd make a distinction between US and British politics on that one.The homophobia principally comes from the Christian right over there and that feeds into the politics. You can say and defend anything if you can find a way to spin God and Jesus into it.

Ah, ok, my bantz facility wasn't working

I was partly. Obviously not all right wingers are homophobic, but pretty much all homophobes are right wing.

Edit - not to mention our current prime minister called people ‘bum boys’

Section 28 was implemented by the Conservatives though, right...?

Anyway, this thread really needs Dan to post the player of the day to get back on topic :D

That’s like saying not all left wingers are anti Semitic but all anti semites are left wing - it’s just the same bullshit pedalled by people who believe “the opposite side” are evil.

It’s also the same shit that people peddle who think people of a different colour or sexuality are monsters.

Intelligence and empathy will tell you that people are just people - they can be racist or sexist or homophobic regardless of political leanings, religion or colour. Arseholes are just arseholes, and tarring whole swathes of people with the same brush is just pathetic, small minded thinking.

Not really. I, err, believe one or two anti-semites in the past have been right wingers.

Whereas extreme left wing governments have almost a laissez faire attitude towards homosexuals, read up on the purges in Chechnya when you have chance, plus do you class all religion groups as right wing ?

Its easier to accept that arseholes come in all shapes and sizes.

Please someone post something about a past player or I'll be forced to drag up Mark Rankine to get people talking

So Wilf Chadwick. He joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 1926. He scored on his club debut, a 2–1 defeat to Middlesbrough on 25 September 1926, and finished his season with 12 goals. He was Wolves' leading goalscorer in 1927–28, with 19 goals, and added a further 13 in the next campaign.
But just how good was he?

Depends where he played, the left or right wing?

Plenty of Tories knocking about today have incredibly homophobic voting records. The public might have forgotten, but we haven’t.

Indeed, but Liberal Tim Farron is a homophobic scumbag again driven from a religious philosophy
