As this is a semi poster funded site, how about a fining system? A ban for however long mods feel is necessary, after which posting rights are reinstated after payment of the fine. At the end of the year the fines go towards the running of the site or charity whichever is seen fit.Referendums on permanent bans?
That would bring harmony to the forum…..
Rather than just debating the removal of one poster, moving forward it would be nice to hear members thoughts on how they think bans should be managed. How many strikes before you’re out, length of bans, information given out on such rulings, amount of moderators, length of moderator terms, type of offences leading to such bans. I’m sure that any sensible suggestions can be looked into.
Yes, this aspect of his character is particularly interesting given how he behaves publicly. He is also a regular snitch to the mods apparently which we all know now which is good to be aware of. Everybody loves a tell-tale.

All aggressive and provocative on the forum, then report, report, report if someone reacts.
Again, if people think this is cool, that's awesome.
But who decides the fine amount? I’m not sure what it will solve. In this instance say Johnny is banned, told to pay a fine, doesnt think he should be banned (I don’t know him personally so no idea what he thinks) he isn’t going to pay the fine. Therefore he can’t come back on. People who don’t feel he should be banned will speak up and we will have what we are having now.As this is a semi poster funded site, how about a fining system? Also been numerous comments over the years that he's not like that in person.
Maybe he doesn't like you (EMOJIS FOR THE BENEFIT WHO DON'T REALISE WHEN I'M BEING TONGUE IN CHEEK... )I guess another aspect I have, is that I met him in person, he was abusive and condescending then too.
Then also made stuff up about that meet after the fact.
I have just simply found him to be a thoroughly unpleasant individual to me, and I'm not sure why he has targeted me to the extent he has. He's made comments about me personally too.
I can appreciate others haven't endured this so have an entirely different view - but this is my own experience.
The fine comes from the mods and can be transparent, either based on type of offence or the number. Don't pay, don't post that's your choice. A permanent ban means you don't have one.But who decides the fine amount? I’m not sure what it will solve. Just remove the “grass button”. Moderation is then out in the open and posters have the option to self moderate, ignore or leave. Bans should be for the most egregious of conduct, whataboutery and bickering is part of what this forum is all about.Johnny was banned for 5 weeks back in May 2021 after previous shorter bans. He'd gotten away with a LOT since in recent years, as had everyone else on here to be honest, purely because of the desire to be lenient towards anything other than the most foul languaged and direct abuse.
Maybe we should take Del's advice and dish out bans much more frequently for people who think that right of reply to defend their position means a 24 hour back and forth of bickering. But my guess is people wouldn't like that either and this place would descend into whataboutery and constant reporting of other members and complaining about moderating. Which I don't think anyone wants.
Report button is handy when something happens in a thread I don't want to read. (NFL & Christsmas, I'm looking at you!)Just remove the “grass button”. Yeah tbf there's not so many posts that anything will go unseen by the modsJust remove the “grass button”. Nothing ever happens in NFL…in real life or on here.Report button is handy when something happens in a thread I don't want to read. (NFL & Christsmas, I'm looking at you!)
"I'd hate to be in trouble while having a scrap with you idiots behind me. Never f'kin satisfied, never pleased, never nothing. Never seen such a negative forum ever before. Have you looked at who we've played this season???? F'kin idiots the lot of you".Yep, and not that he wanted to attack him
I agree with this. If there was something particularly egregious then a thread could be started in Admin or a PM would suffice also.Just remove the “grass button”. Paraphrasing "seeing" not "me actually stoving your head in"..."I'd hate to be in trouble while having a scrap with you idiots behind me. Never f'kin satisfied, never pleased, never nothing. Said poster's last post.
J75's response was the (I paraphrase) "seeing your head stoved in" remark. Some might find that acceptable...
It amazes me that you think that makes a difference.Paraphrasing "seeing" not "me actually stoving your head in"...
That isn't threatening a poster
