Jezza apologises "on behalf of the Labour party for the Iraq war", and that where there are credible reports of human rights abuse or war crimes, Labour would suspend arms sales - starting with Saudi Arabia

Diane Abbott has been appointed as the shadow Home Secretary. A strange appointment by Momentum.
 
Why is it strange? (Genuine question)
 
As a Labour MP has just tweeted: "Diane Abbott is now in charge of our response to security, terror and immigration. Do they want anyone to vote for us again?"
 
Its nearly as ridiculous as Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary.....
 
OK, I'll be the one to ask: what's wrong with Abbott in that role?

Why is she 'loathesome' she's very principled and stood up for what she believes through out her career.

The bile being spewed on Twitter (and here to a lesser extent) has a very nasty taste.

I don't particularly agree with either of their politics, but no one seems to take aim at that - the attacks all seem very personal.

I tend to agree with this. I don't like Chakrabati but she is a very experienced barrister so you can't knock her for that. I'm not sure she would be able to divorce her own beliefs from actual policy if Labour did get into power.

Abbott is a thoroughly unpleasant, condescending hypocrite of an individual who should be nowhere near politics. The epitome of a self serving narcissist, she makes Cameron look whiter than white.

Not really, but then people see what they want to and ignore everything else.

You see I don't get this.... I really don't give a shit who is in the "Shadow Cabinet"...Up until reading the rest of this page I didn't know who the Home Secretary was (shudder).

When I vote, I vote for the Party I feel represents me. I vote for the policies that I feel are fair for ALL and not just the well off and I vote on who is in line to represent the community I live in
