Jeremy Corbyn

'First they ignore you, then they say you're mad, then dangerous, then there's a pause and then you can't find anyone who disagrees with you'. - Tony Benn

See Corbyn re Apartheid, Sinn Fein, LGBT rights, Iraq (twice), PFI, Palestine. I'll take principled over 'relevant' any day of the week.

Fixed it for you? Or maybe I should have used Dean Saunders...

Not every rabble rouser turns out to be a misunderstood genius...

Corbyn forced to back down and allow a free vote on air strikes. Yet only this morning team Corbyn were saying their glorious leader would call the shadow cabinets bluff.

Who was saying so?

You must read different things to me.

I have seen the Press say he might use the whip or he might let them have a free vote.

Infact after his interview on the BBC yesterday, it was pretty clear to me he was going to allow a free vote based on his past voting, when he was going with what he believes rather than the Party line, which he is now letting his MP's do. He has put his point across, rather well if you ask me and now his MP's have a free choice.

Yep, that exactly what I thought he said on Marr yesterday.

A vote for war should always be a free vote imo, for all parties.

He has said the party is about democracy and he has given a free vote. Fair play I say.

Parliamentary whips are a load of contrary nonsense anyway, see that new Tory MP who argued very well against the tax credit cuts and voted yes anyway for details.

Anyway if it's such a slam dunk then the Tories don't need Labour. With their majority of 12.

And McCluskey?

Saying Corbyn should use the whip?

There is a difference between having an opinion and actual fact you know. Those who wanted the Whip used stated they believe he should use it and those who didn't said the opposite and as a lot in the free vote camp are part of "team Corbyn", not sure what your point is.

So why were team Corbyn all over the radio this morning saying they did not believe that a free vote would be allowed?

And McCluskey?

Said this:

Writing in the Huffington Post, he said: “Backbench MPs are even calling on him to quit for having the temerity to maintain his values and principles ... the thought that some Labour MPs might be prepared to play intra-party politics over an issue such as this will sicken all decent people. And they are playing with fire. Any attempt to force Labour’s leader out through a Westminster Palace coup will be resisted all the way by Unite and, I believe, most party members and affiliated unions.

“I do not know whether there will be a free vote on Syria or not. However, that is a decision for Jeremy to make

The point is quite simple. Corbyn has been forced to climb down by his shadow cabinet. And you knew very well what I meant.

I don't think he ever intended to whip the party as it's quite a nuanced issue. Personally I think we have no business getting involved but Dave likes to act the big man quite a lot.

Do you know 100% that Corbyn was going to use the Whip? Personally, I have seen little evidence that has been his thinking at all.

Unless you are part of this fabled "Team Corbyn" I doubt you do, but hey carry on assuming to make a point Franky.
