January Transfer Window, 25/26 Season

Correct, he now doesn't get enough because people think he's 'alright' at centre half when he's manifestly dreadful and wouldn't get on the bench for any other team in the league.
whatever we think of him, it's not his fault, the fault lies with the ones that signed him and those that sanctioned the deal.

Maybe not the place, we'll have a championship 26/27 thread soon no doubt, but given the feeling that we're unlikely to sign anyone worthwhile, I'm wondering if there's anything we could see from this squad for the rest of the year that would make people confident going into next (not likely I know I know).

We're in a bind now as if someone performs well they're more likely to move on. Mane likely has suitors now, if Tolu scores well then he's probably gone, if the Arias that was promised shows up he won't stay, even Rodrigo will probably be eyeing a move if he kicks on.

We're going to be stuck with some of the rest for sure. Is there anything the unredeemables could do to convince us that they might not stink up the championship too? An unchanged back 3 that picks up a few clean sheets? Fer Lopez bulks up? Some consistent Bellegarde performances when he comes back?!?

Surely we can get a championship/lower prem quality keeper who isn't getting a game somewhere else. That would make me feel a tiny bit better about next year.

No. It’s all no about the summer recruitment.

I'm not sure there's much given the overhaul of the playing squad that's coming up. I don't think we have 1 player I'd be confident is here next season, Toti being the closest I guess, so even a positive run of form wouldn't be much of a tell. The best we can hope for is Edwards proving to be tactically versatile and savvy as that would be the foundations for hope. Off the field it'd be the employment of a new Chief Exec with a proven and successful background in football, but I don't see that happening - it's a month since Shi Mk 1 left and there's not been any links or noise that a recruitment process is underway.

Wolves are hoping to beat a host of Premier League rivals to two Scottish teenagers - Dundee United striker Kai Hutchinson, 15, and 17-year-old Aberdeen midfielder Cooper Masson. (Teamtalk)

Maybe I'm in a small minority, but I think most of the current squad will be here next season.
Johnstone, both Buenos, Toti, Doc, Rodrigo, Bellegarde, Tolu, Hwang, Mane, Wolfe, are all players we might persuade to stay. And I would not be surprised if one of Krejci, Arias, Lopez is here when next season starts.
The goal will be promotion at the first attempt. Players with Prem experience will be considered an advantage.

Exactly this. As much as most of us wouldn’t care if they all left, we’re not going to sell EVERYONE!

Agreed. It's a case of where would they go and us not needing to sell. Andre, Gomes and Larsen will leave obviously, but beyond that??

In addition to those 3 I'm confident none of Sa, Krejci, Wolfe, Lopez, Tchatchoua, Hwang or Arias will be here. I think we'll sell Mane too. The rest depends on their attitude and options.

Mane's emergence and relative protected value from his contract extension means sadly I think he will be gone in the summer, particularly if his performance arc continues.

Unless he and his personal management consider 6 months / full season of consolidation and experience in the Championship a worthwhile risk.

He'd be mad to stay. History is littered with teenagers who looked quality for a few months and then fell off. Take a nice long and lucrative contract and get loaned out for development if necessary.

Depends on his motivations. If he wants to play it’s smart to stay. He’ll play another 15-20 games this season then another 40 in the championship. He’ll still be 19 at the end of next season. Even if he doesn’t light it up he’ll still have suitors with over 50 league games at that point.

If one of the big teams come calling I think he’d be mad to stay. If he carries on like he has started until the end of the season why would he want to play in a Championship team that as things stand is as likely to get relegated as promoted? As you say he could get that experience on loan if it’s needed.
