January 2022 Transfer Thread

No creativity/ goal threat from out wide mainly.

Pretty easy for the opposition to shut us down if they know they've only got the front 3 to worry about.

That's down to shit recruitment.

That and a coach who is struggling to adapt to the PL.

Your first point for me. I can accept being totally outplayed by your Liverpool’s, city’s etc. It’s when we look so toothless against Norwich, Newcastle etc. Win the games we ‘should’ win and you climb the table.

He's a weird one and he's got to be on insane wages over there.

Imagine PSG are the type of team who would cover the majority though - not saying it will happen or is likely. But I’d be all over it

Wouldn't surprise me if he ended up back at Liverpool

Yeah, zero chance of him coming here unfortunately.

Lille are through to the CL next stage as group winners...I don't expect them to make it super far but it reduces their need to sell and/or makes it less likely we'll be getting either of their lads

Hugely so.

£15m for making the groups, £2.8m per groups win, £9.6m for making the last 16. Huge shot in the arm for a distressed club.

Botman being linked with AC Milan & Liverpool.

We wont be signing either of those Lille players anyway.

We will be lucky to get one first team signing over the line in January, the excuses are there and ready made about business being "hard to do in January" - the Summer is always your main oppurtunity and we fucked it up massively. Luckily we are in no real danger but I keep seeing on social media how "Fosun have to back Bruno in January" and "This window is their last chance for me" etc .. They've shown their hand already, we aren't going to do anything meaningful in this window.

We never do massive January business, I don't know why people are expecting any different. I'll judge them next summer, no major business then and that will be their hand well and truly shown.

“I’ll judge them next summer” seems to have been the line used for about 4 years now?
Did alright 4 years ago winning the Championship, probably the best transfer window ever, even three years ago when we finished 7th was a good one.

Jinky is right though it's said every time. Fosun put a fair bit in initially but that's stopped now.

Now the excuses about FFP have been put to bed I don't get why anyone thinks next Summer window is going to be massively different to the other recent windows. We have been working on a minimal (in some cases 0) net spend for a while now.

Don't know if that was directed at me but I'll answer it anyway. I've never said I think next summer will be massively different, just that the club will be in a financial position to do some serious business. Nobody knows whether they will or they won't, it's just where I'll personally judge them.

Ok, last 2-3 years. When do you draw the line or do you just continue to say it for years to come?

Eventually they need to be told they’re not doing their jobs well enough. I’m still laughing at Shi for genuinely saying “I think it was a good window” about our business in the last window.

There's certainly been a change of strategy and it stems from Shi as he has the ultimate say-so in all transfers.

His performance has been appalling in leading the club over the last 2 years and I'm surprised Fosun have kept him on.

To add to that, the purchases of two certain Portuguese players increasingly looks atrocious business and surely the final nail in his coffin.

I'm more inclined to thing that Shi is just doing his master's bidding and thereby not only keeping his job but being given more responsibility. He may or may not have come up with the idea of Fosun Sports but clearly he has been given responsibility for it. He is now the sole Fosun employee on the Wolves board.

The worry for me is that he is trying to persuade his bosses that he can make Wolves a success without needing any more inter-company loans.
