January 2022 Transfer Thread

I would imagine that, if Barca want to sign him in the summer, someone credible at Barca would have made sure the message gets to Adama.
I'm far more doubtful of their interest than their communication. He's done nothing in the 6 years since he was sold by Barca to make them think they made a mistake.

Whomever he goes to I hope they are happy with playing with 10 men for 80 minutes of each game.

A couple of bits I've seen recently is that we offered a contract to Ramsey but he turned it down and that us, Everton and Newcastle have had talks with United about van de Beek

Any manager/'coach will believe they can get something out of Traore and whilst he retains that exceptional pace which definitely enhance his other positive attributes then he is going to be in demand. He has exceptional talents, unfortunately matched by some exceptional deficits. If he had maintained the levels of effectiveness of that one season then a/ it wouldn't be a question about if he goes and b/ it wouldn't be a question of whether it was £15 or £20 million.

Levy doing Levy things. Who woulda thunk.

Spiers reckons a deal with Spurs is "closer".

I can only read the opening paragraph but if his assumptions are that we have requested £20m and they've offered £15m so the move is closer then I've not got any further information than what you and others supplied on here last night.

Nothing new really in terms of what has happened - we have turned down £15m, we want in the region of £20m - but he says the club expect Spurs to bid what we want eventually and we expect him to leave.

You've got to think Lage is sanctioning it though? He isn't in the team right now, if Neto is available for our next league game (10th Feb!) or not long after, and Chiquinho is ready to go right now, then maybe he thinks he's hardly going to play.

I'd imagine Bruno would be happy to keep him in the role he's currently in. That's not realistically viable economically though IF the £20m gets laid down

Not sure Lage will have a say in it tbh. Adama, like everyone at Wolves, will have his price and if Spurs meet it he'll go, whether Bruno wanted to keep him or not.

For the record, I think on purely footballing terms I don't think Lage will be bothered if we do sell Adama, for exactly the reasons Deutsch mentioned. Personally, I wouldn't be bothered either. Considering the quality of the players we were linked with in the summer but didn't quite get over the line I'd rather we had the extra £20m than Adama.

By the way, it's definitely worth every Wolves fan's time to take a closer look at the Portuguese 'operation red card' and the leaked phone calls between Lage and Jorge Mendes.

If the £20m is used to get quality players over the line all well and good but if not, I'd sooner have Adama sat on the bench than £20m sat in the bank.
£20m that we spend this month on a midfielder who can offer goals and a proper rotation option (I don't think anyone now ever wants to pick Donck out of choice) then great, I'm all for that.

£20m just to sit there and we have one fewer player to pick from for the final 18 games, no thanks. Not least as we could easily get that £20m in the summer even if he does nothing for the rest of the season.
