Poor response from a mod and not funny in the circumstances at all.
Come on Cyber, it's gallows humour which is pretty funny.

I see your point about closing games out but using Donk is a bit nuts, he's never played there before, isn't a good finisher, doesn't have an eye for goal or very good back to goal play He is good in the air, strong and can make good runs off the ball.

But he isn't really an option. I'd rather go with Shaabani or Corbeanu as a sub as they are both good technically and strong so you would hope they could keep the ball well.

We know Raul is out for the season and we also can't be sure if he'll be able to play again (this makes me sad even thinking about it),

You see this is just nonsense, you have absolutely no idea on his health. Players have come back from this in a few months and others have had to retire, we just don't know.

And that is how you reply.

Fair enough. How should we try and close out games? I worry that our current strategy is flawed?
We're aren't good for 90 minutes, we're either good at the start and tail off or rubbish at the start and improve.

So my answer would be go back to being rubbish in the 1st half and then we won't be in a position where we're trying to close out games.

If we're being serious though

1. Move Neto / Podence into the centre and bring on Ait Nouri as a winger. He's quick and great at retaining possession
2. Tell Adama to stand in the middle and try to get the ball into his feet
3. Buy Artem Dzyuba for the last 20 mins of games

I think nonsense is a bit strong, don't you?

It's certainly no worse than a reasonable assumption, would you want the club to be relying on him coming back this season?

Again, fair enough. Shaabani is a shout .

wish I never bothered as is often the case on here. You come up with an idea and it gets derisive responses without any sort of alternative view, or respectful debate bar Johnny and Mir. Guess I am not one of the respected posters on here.

At 75 minutes we make the changes to see out games when we are winning. 99% of the time that invites pressure. plenty of times that has resulted in a late concession of a goal to either lose the match or give the opposition a draw. It could have happened again v Arsenal.

Silva has not got 90 minute legs yet. He will have the shirt in December. At 75 minutes when we make our changes , if we are ahead and want to close the game I would try Donk up top to hold the ball up as he can do that well and he has the most stamina of our players. So he would replace Silva. Leave Two of Traore Neto and Podence on behind him and you have an ouit ball with hold up potential rather than a hoof into territory which instantly gets returned.

Of course Donk is not a centre forward but he has great hold up technique and can spot a pass/ link play. More so that Traore by a long way who looks completely lost when we try and close a game out, most of the time.
Dendoncker gets worse the further up the pitch he plays. He’s awful receiving the ball with his back to goal even with 5 yards of space, zero awareness (not surprising it’s not his position).

When have you ever seen him “hold up the ball”. I honestly don’t think he’s attempted this once in 2 years as he hasn’t been playing CF.

The “invite pressure” is nothing to do with personnel. It’s tactical instruction to park the bus. I don’t like it, but Nuno thinks he’s got a better chance getting the result that way.

There you go Cyber. Told you “you’re talking bollocks” in more than 3 words.

again, everything was fine about your reply until the unnecessary dig at me at the end.

Mario Ballotelli is still available isn’t he?
Vasco De Gama want him apparently.

Get binned out of Brescia after they were relegated and hasn't played since March. Falls out with everybody and is about as far from a Nuno player as there could possibly be without being Ravel Morrison

Don't be so precious.

Some suggestions are worth debating. Others are rightly derided. You don't like people calling your opinions nonsense then maybe have a think before you go about suggesting playing Leander Dendoncker as a centre forward. Lunacy.

It’s not a dig. Basically said “you are talking nonsense”. Different words, same meaning. It’s the internet not a thesis.

Without labouring it

Rui

Semedo Coady Boly Marcal

Donk(Neves) Moutinho

Traore Podence(Kilman) Neto

Silva (Donk)

That changes the 4-2-3-1 to 3-4-3

As I say its just an idea. I am really not a fan of how we have been trying to close out games leaving Traore plus one up top as there is no hold up . Maybe its just me .
Can I check, when Donck is up top on his own, are you also suggesting Kilman as a "number 10"?

Maybe we can put Luke Matheson in goal being as Ruddy is rubbish now?

Don't have a go at me, it's just a suggestion.

My fucking God.

Luke Matheson is 5'6 . You always pick the extreme without giving a viable alternative. I do see the constructive arguments against Donk up top given by others however, just not you.

For the record I think we are in a pickle now as we knew we would be if we lost Raul as we spunked 35m on potential rather than planning for a possibility in giving Raul decent back up. Additionally , we have been very fortunate to find that we have an alternative in 4-2-3-1 formation to play if there is no Coady or even with Coady. That was more luck than judgement. But I will take the win.

December is going to be a big month. It could equally be a nil point month given our opponents. That would be a shame as we have just started to look more threatening.

You do realise we just comfortably beat Arsenal away in difficult circumstances with said 18 year old?

And how was 4 at the back luck!? He didn’t draw it out a hat.

Fortunate to find that we have an alternative in a back 4? Or a plan Nuno has been working on? Tbc

January could also be a big month, we could either be undefeated or it could be a nil point month. Tbc.

What I will also say is, we lost Raul to an awful injury on Sunday. And then we scored two goals. We currently have a replacement (also Tbc if he's good enough) and there's no need to start thinking of outside the box/square peg solutions until we find out how good he is.
Donck and Kilman as attackers is probably the worst attacking line up I've ever heard of.

I can't make a constructive argument against that.

It's like me trying to explain why Judy Dench would be shit if we cast her to play the fucking Hulk.

Don't. Talk. Shit.
