January 2021 Transfer Window

Ahh hope. Welcome back old friend. Stay around for a while will you?

I hope you’ve got the correct paperwork with you. Getting anything in or out of a Europe is a nightmare.
Paul might be able to help?
Paul and I will row in shifts and we're both very stealthy.

A counter point to everything I have said in here, we are only 7 points behind Chelsea still, so maybe spending isn't the answer!

Fulham win either of their two games in hand on us and we're 7 points off the bottom three too ;)

Their games in hand are against Spurs and Burnley.

Might have a bit of trouble against them.

I think they rearranged the Spurs one already? So it's Man U and Burnley! Not much better... :)

As I've said previously, I'd be surprised if anyone down there puts a run together to get much closer to us. In the same way, problem with us being 7 points behind Chelsea is that 7 points is a lot when you're struggling to get a win.

And why are we suddenly using Chelsea as the barometer? They’ve been awful this season. One of my best mates is a Chelsea fan and he wants Lampard gone!

“oh we’re not that bad. We’re only 7 points off the team in 8th who’ve been average themselves” seems like an odd argument...

I think I'm reaching the point where I would be happy with Origi.

Nah - I'd rather we didn't our waste money.

Think just have to accept that we aren't going to buy a striker because we clearly don't think we can find value/cheap enough short term option. We may as well find out if we can get performances out of a player we did spend money on - in their eyes I think. Then when Raul is fit we have him and Silva, and hopefully we start to look at a wide player who can also play up front.

Another day, but the same old discussion!

For me, as I mentioned yesterday, it's a complete failure on the part of the recruitment team if they are unable to find someone - anyone - who can come in and do a better job than Cutrone or Silva over the remainder of the season. What are they getting paid to do?!

Can't help but feel they are leaving themselves with an awful lot to do in the summer window. I can already predict what's going to happen. We'll probably add 1 or 2 more players to the squad and then state the returning players are "like new signings"...

After some slightly questionable signings and decisions I don't feel we can claim an air of almost-infallibility that we once could have done for Nuno and Fosun, but they're surely doing all they can during a difficult window to get someone suitable in.

As above, I'd rather we stuck to what we have than sign someone permanently we're likely to regret.

I'd be happy for a short term loan of someone decent though, just to give some breathing space for the likes of Fabio and extra options for Nuno
