January 2021 Transfer Window

The cash flow is an issue side from a Wolves perspective, otherwise we wouldn't have paid £35m or the best part of it up front for someone.

Not saying it's a huge issue, I doubt they're in territory where they need to sell to buy but just that real world finances could for a change be more of a limiting factor than FFP.

Jota was the one big bit of income in the summer but the reality of it is that very little on that money has landed yet. Whereas Fabio was supposedly upfront for bit money and Semedo probably mostly upfront. Probably closer to £100m than £50m in the red on net cash flow this summer with Hoever and loans chucked in too.

Got about 40m in total for Costa and Cav, didn’t we? Although know idea how the payments went etc

Cutrone is back and staying. Proving me wrong...again

Yeah fans not gonna be happy with that

I'm fine to give him a chance, if he's willing to come back and prove himself. He does have qualities, and three goals and four assists in the minutes he had is better than I think people realised. But I can see why people would see it as lacking in ambition etc

I read the responses to a tweet about him yesterday - all pretty positive, which surpirsed me.

Right decision imo.

I'm in two minds: if he is willing to fight then give him the chance. Saturday is at least the perfect game for him to start.

The desperation for a striker must be huge then :D

I hope that in doing this, we still have our eye on a striker target if becomes available (ie. Jovic) whilst also allowing us to sign players in other positions we need to add in (wide player, centre mid/centre back)

I'm going to evoke the TWF mantra of 'wait until the end of the window' on this one. If that's it and Raul is out for the season or as good as, then I think disappointed would be a fair reaction.

I think so too. Then it would be up to Nuno, staff and Cutrone to prove otherwise.

I think it's better than leaving him out on loan, us looking for a striker and in the potential situation we don't get one being left with just Fabio. It covers us slightly better.

MGW and Cutrone back?! I'm going to stay off Twitter for the next 6 months.

Nuno hasn't sent a first team player out before and had him back to play. That's now 2 in 24 hours

Doesn't make too much sense to me. He's not done well on loan didn't really do well here before and has shown several times he will throw his toys out if he's not getting games.

If Fiorentina had an obligation to buy him we should have left him there as my suspicions are we will struggle to set up a deal in future where we will get £18m for him.

Hope to be proven wrong.

I’m happy to have him back. It makes sense to recall him when we’re struggling for options up front.

I’m sure the club have other striker targets in mind but may as well give him a chance.

Honestly it makes sense, we are desperately short of players and he has more pedigree than Fabio right now. Maybe the fact he got the move and playing time he wanted in Italy and hasn’t been a success will have given him a new attitude and outlook. Interesting to see what happens now, I never thought he looked like he lacked effort in the minutes he got here. Movement looked good just didn’t look like he could finish which doesn’t really help us right now!

Is Cutrone a better finisher than Fabio? On the evidence seen probably Yes
Is MGW as good or potentially better than we have seen from Vitinha? On the evidence seen probably the same.
Does this save a shed load of money in the medium term ? Possibly yes
From a business point of view it seems to make complete sense. Furthermore, both players would suit a variant of a four at the back system more than the 3 at the back, which they did not seem to adjust to when they had their initial opportunity. If they both play 3 or 4 games this month then we have from 27th January ( our last game v Everton) to window's end to bring others in if they don't perform as required by Nuno.
I am not giving this my whole hearted approval but it does meet a short term need.
