January 2021 Transfer Window

He's a pretty good goalscorer, would suit the 4231 better if we wanted to dominate possession more than playing on the break where I think he would struggle. I don't see it anyway

Trips absolutely loves Özil. Do it for him.

In all seriousness that may be one of the worst ideas I've ever heard, and I used to sit in on conferences with the heads of HBOS before they literally collapsed an entire bank.

Mesut Ozil?

His giant wages may be an issue but he has quality as a 10. Arsenal want rid and may pay some or most of his wages? Only 32 as well. We could play him, Otasowie and Neves with Ozil behind Neto and Cutrone / Silva 4-1-2-1-2 that becomes a 4-3-2-1 defensively? Ok its narrow but we are not a tall side and don't have a tall centre forward so lumping it across in the box is a bit of a waste.

He does go missing but no more than Eriksen.
No! It would become 10 men without the ball, he does zero defensive work. Such a lazy player with the heart of a pea. Throw in his age and wages - it makes zero sense.

Doesn't even create anything these days either. He's played against us twice since we came up, both times I forgot he was playing.

Not sure he would fit into the current formation / tactics; would be a good signing nonetheless though.

Edit - Nketiah that is

No to Nketiah from me. Too young for what we need and I can't see him ever being anything other than a mid table PL striker at best

At this point Nketiah is just a finisher, nothing more. I don't think he's what we need (I also don't think there's anything in it).

I'm told Christian Eriksen, like Diego Costa, a non-starter for Wolves due to the finances involved, especially wages.

Must be serious as he hasn't started the tweet "am told"

In all seriousness, it's not true to say Adama is awful at this, he's often willing and does do defensive work, he came tearing back to challenge a Brighton player in the right back position, won it but then slipped on his arse and conceded a corner 😁

Adama tries. But like Sako (careful, Alan) I really don't want him there. It's a nightmare waiting to happen.

As for Eriksen, go and ask Spurs fans about him and it's not like he's done well since. I swear people are playing FIFA 13 and picking players. Özil, Costa and Eriksen! Maybe get Vidic in to play at the back and Carrick to anchor the midfield while we're at it.

I remember it well :) It's always amazed me we have the fastest player in the game but if the opposition breaks he's nowhere in sight. do you think he's like one of those cartoon guard dogs that have just enough rope to not reach it's target without yanking him back ?

Tim Spiers podcast this morning -

“I don't think think there is a huge amount of money available for a permanet deal (for a striker) from what I have been told. We should not be expecting a big money deal this month. Origi looks ideal to me and Wolves would most likely pay a loan fee (around £5 million). Wolves have shown a lot of interest in him. Jovic from Real Madrid I think they have put a speculative loan bid in for. However Madrid are more keen to sell than loan the player.
Josh King from Bournemouth would be a permant deal they are looking at and from what I have heard would want around £10 million. He is a player that certainly interests them.
Diego Costa of 3 years ago would be perfect for Wolves. The Diego Costa at Athletico Madrid is not scoring goals and many injuries. His wages is a problem, which were reported to be £270k a week. He would distruct squad harmony, he doesn't fit into the Wolves mould. He is not on their lists from what I am told and as far as I am aware they haven't even looked at him. I think that would change if they were desperate at the end of the month and he would take a pay cut.
They are looking at many other aswell, this is just a small handful of names. They are very keen and would have one now if they could but its down to the selling club not them to get the deal done.
They are confident of bringing a striker in. My links with the club are solid and reliable. Regular contact with senior figures. I can't give out all information but I have a good relationship with the club"

Origi isn't ideal for anything, he's complete rubbish. I really hope we don't sign him.

As for the last bit, who are you trying to convince Tim, you or us? :D

I'll listen to the pod for context at some point in the week, but as a stand alone comment that last paragraph is weird as Janet won't have accused him of not having those contacts

Probably all the people that say he hasn’t got a clue or any contacts? Just a thought.

Although no idea why he’s bothered.

He does have contacts otherwise he wouldn't get those nice soft pieces about how the players recover from European trips.

They would not tell him about transfers though, except perhaps for who we're definitely not after. By the way a fortnight ago he was saying Origi wasn't on our radar so I think that speaks volumes for how reliable he is on that front.

Some Arsenal fans seem to think we are signing Nketiah. No idea where that one has come from, nor do I believe it. Think our fans would be pissed at us signing a young striker too!

I don't understand what people like about Nketiah, I just don't see what he does well, the same with Rhian Brewster.

He's Glenn Murray/Guy Whittingham v2.0 at the moment. Gets in the right areas and puts the ball away. Nothing else.

Yeah pretty much. I don't mind him at all, but don't think he would suit us too well. Can see why it didn't work out that well for him at Leeds
