January 2021 Transfer Window

I would say Wolves are perfectly placed to help him get to a Chinese club, after he plays 6 months for us. Get him on a pay as you play contract, whilst helping to sign for a Chinese club after this season is done.

Be a weird arrangement if they get a cut of every transaction Gestifute make, can't imagine they apply the same principle to costs and Fosun stump their portion of the overheads. Imagine if it's an individual who holds shares then they just get an annual dividend on net profit like anywhere else or if it's a company investment are they just sitting on the stock for it to increase in value?

Aren’t Chinese clubs having to cap their wages at £50k?
yep, from now.

Players on ridiculous wages are having to take step by step pay cuts until their contract ends

Just because we have Chinese owners?

I'm sure his agent can contact Chinese clubs without needing any help. We could of course help set him up in China (the classic offer house + car deal!) when he moves.

Good point I'd forgotten that. So unless they give him a ginormous signing fee then Europe or the US will be more attractive.

The main rumour on Costa (away from the Mendes/Wolves stuff) is he wants to go back to Brazil and that is why Atletico have cancelled his contract rather than wait for a possible fee.

Yes, and partly for the reasons you stated. There is WAY more to signing a player than getting him to play on the pitch. I just read a great article on player welfare on the Athletic. Really good insight.

Deciding he wants to be Brazilian again now?

Changes his nationality more than a member of this forum!

I like the way youre thinking. He may be a bit of an arse but he has just what we need right now and it would do Fabio no end of good to work with him.

yeah that's kinda the whole reason people go there, the paycheck

So The Times taking a punt and saying we are in for Diego the Bastard Costa.

Generally I’m in favour of taking our time and getting the right person in. This window let’s get someone in fast otherwise I’m going to have a crybaby meltdown.

We have 4 games in 10 days at the end of the month/start of next month, I’d hope we have someone in for that.

There's a few places linking us to Wijnaldum. I can't see it myself.

Klopp wants him to sign a new contract, Barca want him to go on a free in the Summer. More chance of resigning his brother
