January 2021 Transfer Window

Wolves have made a loan enquiry for Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, reports Tim Spiers.

The 23-year-old Serbian international joined Madrid in 2019 for £55 million but has only scored twice for the Spanish giants from 32 appearances, with 11 of those starts.

Former Benfica striker Jovic, who earned his move to Spain after a prolific season on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt, has been an unused substitute for Madrid’s two league matches having previously been out injured, but his last La Liga start came in September.

However, the chances of Wolves landing Jovic, a former team mate of Raul Jimenez, in January still appear to be slim. From Wolves’ perspective any deal would have to be a straight loan for the season, as they wouldn’t be willing to pay anything near £55 million as an option in the summer, but Madrid would likely prefer a transfer which included a permanent deal.

From Athletic article..

Think if we go 4231 on a consistent basis, not only will we need a striker but a wide option I think (maybe someone who can do both?).

Saw it on the Atheltic I think. Apparently contract running down too. I’d certainly be picking him over Traore

Jovic and King would be excellent acquisitions.

If we get Jovic then I'd spend the required to get David Brooks rather than Josh King

Edit. Just saw Josh King is 6ft 2. I would not be opposed to getting some more height into the team

I've no problem with King as a footballer, he's pretty good and can play wide or as a #10. He absolutely is not a main striker though, we can't just sign him and no-one else (assuming we aren't seeing Raul on the pitch any time soon).

Diego Costa..... Can you imagine? I don't think Nuno would even dream about him in the dressing room, even more so on the pitch until he got sent off!
I say this as Uncle Jorge is his agent...

Ha! Scored 13 goals in 3 years, and hasn't seemed like he is in great shape. And like you say then there is his attitude. I didn't realise quite how good his record in England was though!

He is an utter bastard on the pitch but apparently a top bloke off it. King of the bantz at Chelsea.
We won't sign him.

My claim to fame is he beeped and waved out his car once to me and another coach at their training ground. So I will back this up (the traiing ground staff back this up in all seriousness).

Guy he said about the Jovic loan offer says Madrid rejected it, I believe I saw.

Weren't Real pissed off with us for not playing Vallejo?

I think we'd find it fairly easy to justify that one.

Vallejo is apparently playing really well for Granada this season. Totally bizarre.

He's obviously got something about him, but was totally unsuited to English football.

A real confidence player too. Once he made a fuck up that was him done for the entire game.

Depends if they care. As far as they are concerned they loaned out the Spain U21 captain and he didn't play for the last 3 months so they called him/he was sent back early.
