January 2020 transfer window

Agreed, this doesn't necessarily mean we have anything done at all. Everyone said the same when the Costa and Cav deals went through and it turned out not to be the case.

No but we did sign Cutrone and Neto.

As someone has accurately pointed out on Twitter, our whole squad of fit, senior players now fits within one tweet...

Noticeable that on any programme I have seen this season we have a shorter team list than the opposition - to still be competing strongly (even with the Europa challenges) is a testament to how good we are.

So in a calendar year (two transfer windows + the first 9 days or so of this one) we've sold 3 squad players (Hause, Costa, Cav) and have bought one in (Neto). (Obviously not including our U23's or Cutruno's trip to Wolverhampton for 6 months)

That's a piss poor a set of transfer windows for any club.

and yet in that time, finished 7th, FA Cup Semi Final, qualified for Europe, got to the last 32 of the Europa League and sitting in a decent spot in the Prem again. Maybe signing players is overated...

I know there is a sense of flippancy in your tone, but it’s clear that those achievements are based on the successful windows we had in the 12 months’ previous and if we want to continue having the same level of success then we can’t continue to stand still like we are seeming to be at the moment.

I think this is why Nuno has been much more vocal in saying how we need additions than he has previously.

If Nuno has his way (& it really should) then there will be incomings - whether they work out is unknowable.

Spot on. Stand still and don't improve then you get left behind and also stand a bloody good chance of losing the manager as the project he has embarked upon has stopped. Losing Nuno would be a shocking state of affairs for the sake of not getting a number of good players in.

Wouldn't just be Nuno though - the coaching staff and half the players. These next three weeks are bloody important

So just to summarise - we’ve failed, Nuno’s leaving, so are the players and we’re all doooooooomed?

Or have there been pretty much no other transfers completed yet, and still three weeks of the transfer window left?

It really does depend how we end this window really, luckily I think we do only need two players - a Cutrone replacement who can also play wide and a midfielder. We know Nuno likes a small squad but we are a bit too small at the moment. I do worry that if we end up 10th or so this season and don’t do any major transfers that the likes of Neves would be looking elsewhere for next season.

It's called having a discussion about the direction of our club - we still await the outcome.

If you want sunshine and rainbows - go and watch CBeebies.

It’s all a bit pathetic tbh.

“If we don’t sign someone, this will happen”. Well yes. Likewise if Nuno becomes a monk and lives in a cave, or our first team squad decide to give up football and become showgirls.

On the balance of probabilities though, probably not going to be a problem, so not worth wetting yourselves.

Willy Boly began to kick a ball for the first time since his injury this week and turning plus running on grass .

Like a new signing .

Probably still have a few weeks before we welcome him back into the matchday squad though.

I would think first week of February is the earliest we can realistically expect. He will be back for Espanyol for sure, you would imagine.

Boly isn't human....so back this weekend
