January 2020 transfer window

Back up is a tough spot to fill. We are lucky to have had Ruddy stay for 2 seasons. Look around the Prem and the back up keeper options are not that great. Certainly wouldnt take Liverpools or Man City's over Ruddy

Be interesting to if we bring a player in or trust young Anders to step up to 2nd choice.

Don't forget we've got England's Will Norris, currently doing a distinctly average job in league one

Forgot about Will! He is a decent keeper so could be used as back up. Depends if he fancies a season of sitting on the bench I guess

I don't think he's been great, certainly a downgrade on Ruddy

Ruddy was given the pay rise when we got promoted to keep him sweet. Depends if he wants the extra money or go elsewhere and halve his salary so he plays? Kids/family may be settled too which could come into it

John Ruddys kids and family live in Norwich.

For now, absolutely, but in the summer we need to think about a back up if Ruddy wants to move on. I think it will be Sondergaard, which would be ace as we won't need to recruit at first team level, but I guess we will know more in June and July.

Norris and the Sond are fine. Better back up for Rui than we currently have for Raul. Priorities innit

If Rui breaks, you can't put Jota in goal

If Raul breaks, you can play Jota or Podence or Neto up front.

Priorities, indeed.

Same applies to Norris. He essentially sat on our bench for 2 years. Would he want to do the same after a spell of playing. Anders has zero 1st minutes behind him. Do you really make him a back up or send him out to get competitive minutes elsewhere.

Getting a back up keeper on board is probably tougher than getting a back up for Raul. You are targeting someone to accept the odd cup game or using an untried kid.

Right now it's now it's not a priority but come May it could easily be a position we are looking to fill.

I can't find anything that says JR wants to leave
As with everything on here, its guess work but 2 years of not really playing, he will no doubt want to get back out and be a 1st team keeper again.

Ruddy is at the latter end of his career. It depends if he wants a last hoorah or whether he is happy as an integral part of a happy squad and make no mistake he is an integral part. You have seen him on match days motivating players. He's a bench vice captain. He is not getting that elsewhere.

He's out of contract so we need to do something either way.

In his interviews you can see it hurts that he isnt playing. Unless Rui breaks or gets suspended that's his season done in terms of minutes on the pitch.

I will be amazed if he is still with us next season.

Better the devil you know. But I can see a summer move. Just not this window.

Look at Adrian at Liverpool. He's a decent back up this year that looked shit last season. If JR wants to go ,get Joe Hart as back up? He can't buy a game at Burnley and is also out of contract in the summer.

Hart will probably go to the MLS. If Hart cant buy a game right now he isnt going to move to another club where he cant buy a game.
