Israel-Palestine

Will reopen this but please can we keep the pointless arguments out of it.

It's a highly sensitive subject but the repetitive back and forth that gets nowhere is pointless.

Please learn the art of putting people on your ignore list.

The rules of engagement over indiscriminate bombing have rather changed since the days of Bomber Harris

Okay, I guess I need to know.

Who is this Corbyn bloke and how is he relevant here?
The irrelevant prick isn't worth your attention.

Nor is he relevant to the current conflict

A very interesting article, although it’s claim to settle the matter once and for all is a reach.

One point I would make is that the nomenclature of the Palestinian territory is important. If this truly was an occupation then Israel would have spent the last 56 years in breach of the fourth Geneva Convention which specifically deals with the treatment of citizens of occupied countries.

Its probably a simplistic comparison, but we have been in this position to a degree haven't we?

The IRA repeatedly attacked Britain, we didn't carpet bomb vast swathes of Ireland by way of defence?

I dunno, a "black and tan" is a pretty normal thing to order at a bar in the States, but I've been told in no uncertain terms to never order a drink by that name in RoI.

Point being, The Troubles left deep wounds even without going to the extremes Israel does.

I'd say each of these "disputes" have their own nuances which makes comparing them very difficult.

It goes back further than that, have a read about the famine in Ireland too.

I'm sure more are educated on this than me on this though...

Mate, no disrespect, but the Black and Tans are hardly a good example when talking about showing restraint after troubles.

That's sort of my point! Meant only to illustrate that casting any comparisons on this sort of thing won't lead to anything good. :)

We could likely have a whole other conversation about the fact they're colloquially called "The Troubles". Kind of undersells the thing, doesn't it?
