Israel-Palestine

Over 6500 Palestinians killed now, 2000 of which are children, with another 800 missing.

Might be Palestinian stats rather than specifically Hamas ones. Israeli stats will state only military personnel have been killed in a specifically targeted operation.

Truth in the middle no doubt.

The United Nation's site had it at over 5k 3 days ago.

Was their any doubt cast over the figures that Israel quoted regarding the 7th of October? I know I didn't automatically doubt it in the way that many seem to in this instance?

Why would you automatically believe anything genocidal Islamist terrorists said without some kind of other verification?

Why would you believe an institution headed up by a guy who uses language like this?

But you said you didn't automatically doubt it? Make your mind up

I personally wouldn't be parroting what either Israel or Hamas came out without trying to find multiple sources for it, but in terms of trustworthiness, give me a democratic country over a terrorist group any day of the week

I’m not entirely sure, and I may be wrong, but I think we may have raked over this particular ground before…

Regarding the language of Netanyahu, I’m not sure what should be expected of a man who, along with his brother, was in the Israeli SAS and had involvement in some fairly black operations that were very them and us with regard to Arabs

“We are the people of light, they are the people of darkness”.

It’s Genocide 101.

No it's not.

Did you and EP watch the clip or just look at the quote?

He equates an axis of evil (specifically Hamas, Iran/Hezbollah) against the axis of freedom and progress, darkness against light.

It's just standard bullish war talk with a bit of religious sprinkling (which I didn't think you minded?)

His background before politics colours his words.

I mean, he's being judged on his words here so that's what I'm doing?

Surely we should be talking about what's actually happening and what's actually being said and going on rather than making stuff up because we already have our minds made up about everything?

Yeah, Israel are really “the light”.

It’s stunning to me that you don’t see the linguistic ploy here.

It’s exactly the rhetoric George Bush used in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That's not genocide either!

It's scary World War III shit, but it's not 'Genocide 101'

He's also not just referring to Israel as 'the light', he's referring to an axis of freedom and democracy. It's the same chat you'd get from our PM or your own president following a terrorist attack

“Freedom and democracy” for who, exactly?

You'd have to ask him, mate. I didn't make the speech.

How much freedom and democracy do you think Hamas preside over in Gaza?
