Of course, potentially. I suppose for me he’s just not been a failure from the outset: Solbakken didn’t take off, nor Zenga and the less said about Saunders the better. But whether it was luck or whatever, Lage got a tune out of these players for a period of time and got them to 6th/7th prior to the monumental drop off.

I can count on one hand how many times I walked away from games fully satisfied with the performance last season West Ham home, Man Utd away, Watford home and Villa home.
The rest were partial performances to very poor performances.

Fosun has shown itself to be ruthless in the past and surely would now if it could attract a top manager/coach. If I were Jeff I would be doing absolutely everything I could to persuade Poch to come here. It may be a big ask but it has to be worth a try.

They won’t sack him until they’ve approached another manager and know for sure he’ll want to come. The murmurings of Bruno came long before Nuno left in May.

I think they will if we keep losing. At some point he has to simply run out of road and we'll deal with the replacement whenever.

I mean we shouldn't lose the next two, but we easily could as we're pretty rubbish. Then it's Liverpool and City. You can't be sat on 2 points from 8 games and keep your job.

We just sacked Zenga when it was apparent that a 56 year old man wearing ripped jeans and groping barmaids was not an appropriate manager of a football club, plus the results were shite. Took us a long old while to appoint Lambert.

Well he could have just left Jonny there, which I thought he would do, and I would have done, as he's a more defensive full-back. The idea of having someone match up with his pace was a better one.
What? You wouldn’t put the fastest and best 1v1 defender in the club In his natural position against their fastest and trickiest player? I mean I’d have played him RB regardless of opposition as he’s fit and our best RB. Stretch to call that a tactical masterclass.

This notion that he’s some form of Cafu regen and not a defensively solid FB from fans is just weird. I can only assume it’s because he’s fast. A wingback he is not.

I was thinking that we would constantly get done on the counter by ASM as Semedo would be too far up the pitch and not get back in time.

Semedo is our best defender.

That simply isn't true, or if it is I completely missed it. Nuno's departure was a shock to everyone.

Yep, completely out of the blue as far as I recall. I was in Manchester on a weekend with the Mrs when the tweet came through and the shock of my reaction made her think one of my parents had died

Nuno was linked to Spurs in the April prior to his departure with Bruno cited as his replacement. Albeit they were very much brushed off as pie-in-sky rumours are the time.

I think our back 4 have looked pretty good so far considering they haven't been doing it long as a unit.
I agree, especially as they are having to defend more than they should be.

Nuno was about Spurs' 6th choice manager though, so the 2 aren't connected. I have no doubt he was lined up as soon as the decision for Nuno to go was made. Ridiculous appointment then, ridiculous appointment now

Yeah our defence is pretty solid imo. Semedo and Kilman excellent, Collins mostly sound with odd clanger, hopefully he'll only get better.
Jonny and RAN were iffy initially but have been fine last couple of games.

I think we were looking pretty decent in defence yesterday. Up until Hwang had to do something. Can still see him lob that one. Fml.

Can’t believe how good Kilman is. Looks imperious every game. Who is England’s finest choice pairing? Stones and…

He should definitely be on the plane but Southgate will take Maguire. Then probably Guehi and Coady as cheerleader

Yeah Kilman just keeps getting better. So impressive. I had written him off last summer, but he's just a beast now.

Kilman is properly awesome - just goes about his business. I hardly knew he was playing yesterday.

Collins will get better with age. He is excellent for 21 years old.
