I think that was in his Charlton days. There was generally a southern bias in those days. It was Alan Mullery who was keeping him out, certainly Bailey was the better player.
Yes - I think his caps were pre World Cup 1966, but I was only very young then. He was never capped whilst I watched him at Wolves but was a great leader vastly underrated.
