How Long Will Bully's Record Stand?

I'm also not sure anyone is ever making it onto our top 10 appearance makers.

Derek Parkin 609
Kenny Hibbitt 574
Steve Bull 561
Billy Wright 541
Ron Flowers 512
John McAlle 508
Peter Broadbent 497
Geoff Palmer 495
Jimmy Mullen 486
John Richards 486

Doherty has been here forever (somehow) and is only on 368, he isn't going to play another 119 games for Wolves. Micky Stowell finished on 441.
Bully *should* have caught up with Parkin really, had his injuries been managed better. He retired quite young, 48 behind, just one more season.

Basically done as a regular starter when he'd not long turned 32. Only started 35 league games in his final two seasons.

Amazing really he didn't get injured much until around 1993ish. Took some absolute batterings in the late 80s/early 90s, every single game, with awful pitches and us training on a fucking car park.

His knees must have been held together with rubber bands and glue by the end.

I wonder if sometimes we take Bully for granted a bit as he's so approachable and around such a lot.

What a fucking legend, a massive part of why I fell in love with this football club and still am
I hear what you're saying - I remember being disappointed when a new striker would come in and not come anywhere near Bully's tally in a season.

Definitely. The way some talk about him and his opinion on things is pretty awful at times.

Jimmy Murray is 5th in the all time list with 166 goals.

Ted Farmer got 44 goals in 57 appearances according to Wikipedia.

I saw Jimmy Murray in his fruit and veg shop each morning as my first job was a few doors down from it. Never went in to speak to him though 🙁.

I think it was Bill Shorthouse who ran a grocers in Bilbrook after he retired and so my Grandad got to speak to one of his heroes regularly which delighted him.

And of course Grandad took me to see Ron Flowers when I was little, and what a lovely, lovely man he was.

Where do Jimmy Murray and Ted Farmer sit goals wise? Albeit Ted really only had one
Great season?

Ted Farmer would surely have amassed a huge tally but for his injury. and with Peter Knowles alongside him.. A lost to bad luck partnership.

Denis Westcott would have been close to Bully's total but for the war. I think he had about 90 war year goals, prob on at least a goal a game basis, on top of his 100 or so official ones. So with full seasons and relatively injury free he'd have been up there.
