General Wolves News

I don’t really follow or have any knowledge of other clubs reporters and whether they are liked/disliked. But I do know from a Leeds fan mate that Phil Hay is thought of as highly regarded by their supporters.

I get that it can be a tricky balancing act. You don't want to piss the club off because they can just stop talking to you if they want to. But either Edwards or Spiers had the opportunity to call out some of that nonsense a few weeks ago and they said nothing. That's not journalism.

I've said it before but WM and the E&S were absolutely cowardly when Saunders was here. The former would sort of snigger at how obviously terrible he was but backed him. The E&S (led by Swain at the time) went with a "he's doing his best, it's a nightmare job, no-one would do any better" narrative then put the boot in the day after he was sacked. Call it as it is, for Christ's sake.

Judah patting them on the back for season ticket prices too.

Not one consideration of the things done to death on here.

Oh God, yes.

"You have to give Vinny Clark credit".

No I certainly do fucking not.

Keen is similar to Joey in as much as he's a couple of years out of university. Now being young doesn't mean he can't write, but giving your most visible role in the sports dept. to someone with next to no experience shows they haven't got a pot to piss in budget wise.

You also don't have enough of a frame of reference. It's no good if you can only properly remember stuff from the last decade and a bit or so, surely.

Timbo did a piece on the Sheff Wed shootout a while back and it was terrible because even allowing for his bizarre writing tics, he clearly didn't remember it at all.

How old is Spiers?

There is also a fairly comprehensive highlights video on Youtube, which should have filled many/any gapss

Spiers is about 37 I think. Which makes him about 10/11 for that game.

Now I'm not blaming him for not having an amazing recall of a game when he was that age, but don't write about it if you don't. Because it'll show.

Why would anyone want to get their Wolves news from anywhere other than this forum?

The mouth breather Wolves have referred to the police for racist Tweets to the shootout three has started pleading hackers.

Its this generations version of the dog ate my homework, can't wait for somebody to Lescott it up and say they left their phone unlocked and pocket tweeted racist abuse.

The main one he got wrong is we boo'd Waddle for missing a penalty in Italia 90....we didn't. At that point no one gave a shit, we boo'd him because he had mouthed off in the paper about us being a small club and other shit comments

We did boo Pearce for missing a penalty and sang 'Pearce lost the World Cup', but that was in Jan '92. Looking back that was 18 months later, so not overly original in hindsight

Speaking of Spiers, there's a puff piece on Sellars just gone up on The Athletic. The interesting element is Lage will play less of an active role in transfer decision making than Nuno did

I guess that isn't a bad thing if we don't see Lage here in the medium/long term.

The Podence v Olmo decision may have had an influence too (if that rumour is true of course)

I think that Olmo thing is a load of bollocks tbh, they don't even play the same position.

If we don't see Lage as a long term appointment then he shouldn't be here.

He shouldn't be here anyway, he isn't even remotely qualified.

How do you know they don't?

They want him to be successful, hence he'll be here for as long as we keep doing well.

I was replying to EP.

I think we all know he wouldn't get a PL job under the normal run of things, not a chance. I don't quite get the enthusiasm about him, it's blind faith at best.

I agree he's not ready for the PL yet but he is a good prospect. And playing alongside Alphonso Davies (of Bayern) and Johnathan David (of Lille) in the Canadian national team will help his development. He could well make the first team in a couple of years, he's still young.
Neither Davies nor David are in the Gold Cup, but assume you're speaking long term, in which case you're probably right.

I was surprised by how physically ready Theo looked, because I also remember him looking ill-prepared against Spurs. But, like I say, Martinique were tired and aren't even playing full time pros in some spots, so suppose it's natural that he would look better in those circumstances.
