Guarantee you we can't make money off it. Not to any extent that matters anyway.

Have a look through the wolves eSports twitter account. It's only got 12k followers, but a good chunk are people who would never follow wolves football team. It's a completely different demographic, and that's what I think Jeff wants to grow to make us a better proposition than our PL competitors for sponsorship deals.

Growing it makes sense, any revenue stream is a good revenue stream. However, it will grown MUCH faster if the football team are doing well.

They aren't giving us any money, ever.

Who?

Edit. The idea isn't that we sell Wolves things to our followers, it's that we can market ourselves to CoinDeal et al by saying "you can reach a big chunk of middle aged men through our PL team, our eSports offering has a demographic of 16-30 year olds and looks like this etc etc".

If our competiton can't do that then we get the sponsorship deal, or an increased value sponsorship deal.

These 12k followers.

Same as our millions of Mexican fans.

I admire that they're trying to explore different ways to increase revenue but mostly growing a clubs brand and in turn revenue follows success on the pitch - the rest is just a byproduct of that. I don't think Fosun are going to be able to artificially manufacture some huge brand that they keep alluding to. They need to put their hands in their pocket and spend - and that means sorting out the stadium some of which is now pressing - and especially on the team. Selling our best players and then re-investing that money wont end well for us. We dont have enough good quality football people at the top of the club and even with such people in place - that strategy is a huge risk as you only need to get it wrong once and it could be the end of your time in the league. We certainly wont be competing for Europe again any time soon with small net spends.

You may have missed my edit. We don't have to sell them anything, we let people pay us to try to sell things to them. The more people who follow the "brand" in whatever form that looks like, the more we can charge.
including you?

I think its good that the club have their finger on the pulse when it comes to emerging technologies and revenue streams.
As long as it is not to the detriment of the team or the paying fans though and that is where I would have a concern.

I can envision more tie-ins with EA Sports and Konami as eSports become more popular with young gamers. Things like bundles of season tickets plus a copy of FIFA, big push on Wolves finance, discounted offers on other Fosun products when you use a Wolves credit card etc. Which all makes sense and offers value for those that can afford it.

If they start raising ticket prices, merchandise prices and other amenities at the ground, I think they will end up pricing the average fan out and they will lose a huge amout of the goodwill they have built up over the last 5 years.
I personally think Fosun are savvier than that, they understand the classic business principles which includes respecting the customers and they surely know that they will need to build a quality product first before they can market it on a global level.
In footballing terms, I think we are some way off being that quality product and the immediate investment needs to be made to the playing squad.
I'd be surprised if Fosun were to neglect the basic product ie: the team, in order to invest in other revenue streams as that will definitely backfire but then again, I think sacking Nuno was a huge miscalculation on their part and it could prove to be the first chink in the armour.
Time will tell of course but it's going to be the most crucial summer of Fosun's tenure so far.
