There's a few who've had them and come back fine or still improved, Falcao, Del Piero, Xavi for example and look at Ings now. It obviously affects players differently as i'm sure there will be a list of players who didn't come back as good.

Nah, Shearer was just as good. His ACL was at Blackburn in 92/93.

It was wrecking his ankle in 97/98 that caused him to change his game.

Some do, some don't. He has a better chance of it given his age. There are a million variables at play.

Any injury can fuck a career, really. Razak's started as a calf strain, Helder had an ankle issue... Neither immediately fell into the "oh fuck" category, yet it turned Razak "Better than Sako" Boukari into a rec league player, while Costa's growth was completely stunted.

Tl,dr; only time will tell.

Looks like the club have rolled the £50m loan with Macquarie over

Makes sense considering everything that's been happening...TV money will take a dent due to the virus repayments anyway and we don't need to be paying it back when we're short of matchday income at the moment

We coped really well without him when you consider how important he is. Mistakes were, understandably, creeping in and we saw the difference as soon as he came back! If we can get another centre back of his level, we will have done very well.

I thought Owen's problem was repeatedly doing his hamstring. That injury never fully healed and he kept adding to the scar tissue and his pace went.
