Paging Lavelle...

As a side point, I bet T-Dog still has a pager.

Yes, I'll go and work for Keith Harrison. That would be a fun eight minutes before I put his arse through a window.

Wouldn't like to be their hr dept right now, I bet they get some right shit sent through

Keith Harrison isn't there anymore. They do still give that gammon cunt Rhodes a daily column though...

Tim II leaving the E&S!

How on earth are they going to fill his boots?

Going to a sports website called The Athletic apparently, USA based site usually focus on American sports but making a splash in football news coverage/journalism

There's something hilarious about a football site of all the talents being assembled... and they immediately go for Britney.

If he's going to The Athletic someone must really rate him. That is THE preeminent sports publication here. Bar none.

I don't mind Spiers; he comes across as a nice enough bloke and, love them or hate them, him and Judah attract a lot of viewers with their videos.

I just find it weird that he seems to have been headhunted as one of the nation's top football writers. His standard of writing really isn't great and I'd say there are several Wolves writers online who are much better than him (DW, for example).

Anyway, good luck to him. I certainly don't blame him for taking it.

Likewise I don't mind him, but it does feel a bit of a lazy hire. Bit like man city buying Robinho :)

I also don't mind him, a significant upgrade on Tim I, but I think his best bits are on Twitter and videos with Judah, not his piece writing. Podcasts goes too far over the bantz line for me though.

Admittedly although I've just said I don't mind him, not sure I have actually read anything he's written for a very good while. I try to avoid the E&S website and the free paper goes straight in the blue bin.

Don't mind the podcast though.

It appears that the Athletic are going big on premier league and are recruiting a lot of local reporters to cover their teams. Liverpool Echo have the same vacancy.

Can't stand Spiers, won't miss him in the slightest.

I suppose as an unknown publication trying to break a new market in a new country they're probably better off poaching local reporters and hoping their readers come along. Then when they've got a bit of brand recognition through that audience they can start to weed out some of the weaker writers and look for better replacements.

Would be a big ask to gain significant following with a bunch of unknown authors publishing under an unknown brand when there are far more established sources in this market.

Even more so when it's read on a paid subscription basis
