Vinagre away for a few more days as the Porutgal U19's reach the Euro Final

The review of his tournament from Alex Goncalves is:

"Had a great tournament, so good going forward, really contributes to Portugal's attacks and certainly isn't afraid to put the ball in the box. Defensively still has some way to go but he's just so comfortable in possession. Future Portugal international for sure".

Great experience for Vinagre, we are very lucky to have him on a permanent I think he will be worth some serious wedge in a few years.

A good summation, with the bold bit highlighting why I think he's not ready for the Prem. yet.

I see Man City tickets go on sale to members as of Saturday. Is this the same as the Everton game ie based on last season's loyalty points does anyone know?

More than likely, the points don’t get reset just yet so it would make sense.

A lot of CBs struggle when they go to clubs like Utd because the play is just so different. At their precious (normally) inferior club the team was a lot less open and also not expected to win every game. When they go to Utd, the full backs are normally pushed up and there’s normally less cover in midfield. So they can easily get caught one on one etc. And any mistake leads to a goal.

It’s not really that they are terrible (again, normally), it’s just that they are not quite good enough like the very best who can deal with constantly being under pressure or defending one on one.

Depends where they're signing from doesn't it, someone like Lindelof should've been well versed with that situation at Benfica where 90% of games should be a stroll in the park. What's probably the bigger difference there is that the weaker sides over here will still invariably have at least a couple of higher class individuals thanks to the riches in the PL so there's more chance of any lapse or mistake being punished. Someone like Maguire might be more prone to the failings you mention coming from a lesser side in the league, similar issues perhaps exposed someone like Keane when he moved to Everton.

Why is Batth not part of it. I get he served a purpose and blah, blah, but surely he is now surplus to requirements?

He's probably open to offers but ceremonially dumping him would be a touch disrespectful to the club captain in these circumstances. Likewise with Baz who played such a crucial role last year.

(just in case you aren't Jinky and the smiley got lost...)
Only becomes that if we sign another CB

Right now - Boly, Coady, Hause, Bennett, Saiss & Batth. 1 more in and Batth will go but even in that scenario they won't dump the club captain in the group until someone comes along for him

and good to see the E&S going with Group 3 instead of using a shitty term like the bomb squad this time

Interesting Ronan is listed as being part of that group it seems he is surplus to requirements. Real shame but with the likes of Goncalves and MGW playing in that position I can understand why.

Away at Barnsley Ronan was brilliant I really thought he had a big future at that point.

I think Ronan does have a big future, but not at wolves.

If we do sell him, it should be with a buy back clause

Jurgen Klopp describing Wolverhampton as a "proper threat"

I think they know we've arrived ;)
