They won 4 out of their first 17 games, it wouldn't be long after that they moved him forward and went on this run of form.

Some players certainly made some big steps down at what look like remarkably good value, seems likely that there would've been better offers on the table than a bottom half second tier side but perhaps those players weren't as available to the wider market as they were to the new Gestifute/Fosun project?

Who indeed? But that value looks a lot better with hindsight, and although we were all pleasantly bemused at the time I don't recall any other clubs crying foul, nor even all that much in the way of newspaper speculation that we'd beaten anybody to the punch. Even on the Liverpool/Neves chat now, their fans are saying 'wish we'd bought him', not 'wish he'd have chosen us', and no one is crawling out of the woodwork with such accusations so far as I've heard. I suppose Gestifute has its own scouting network, and that we are probably benefiting from it, but that doesn't constitute moral hazard so far as I can see; just another way of sourcing talent.

Of course, though to be fair, it seems to be mainly just that Leeds twat and his Championship cock suckers plus a few PL clubs fearful for their CL status (which is quite a compliment, really), but I do hope the authorities can put it to bed quickly. I can't see anything coming of it worse than a wagged finger and perhaps an instruction to deformalise our link with JM, which won't make us any less likely to sign whoever we would have signed anyway, but the whole thing is an unwelcome distraction when the club needs to be planning for one of the most important seasons in its existence.
