General Wolves News

Agreed, already served a ban for homophobic and ableist chanting before this incident. He's clearly fucking pondlife let him have it.
"Arnold was previously banned from games for three years after being found guilty of hurling homophobic abuse at the referee Mike Dean and making gestures which mimicked disability during the same game"

Lots of people point towards the respect shown to officials in rugby...

Of course it's much easier to respect the referee when he explains his decisions in real time and for the most part gets those decisions correct.

Respect is earned. The referees provided by the PGMOL deserve all of the derision and abuse they get...

They're either corrupt or inept. Why respect them?

There's a difference between respecting people, and treating people with respect. Fans are fans and I've no issue with 'the referees a wanker' etc, it's part and parcel of football. But players, managers and club execs shouldn't be shouting and swearing at referees, it's out of order regardless of how shit they are.

"someone who captures

Cop, Coppa or Copper. The term copper was the original word, used in Britain to mean "someone who captures". In British English, the term cop is recorded (Shorter Oxford Dictionary) in the sense of 'to capture' from 1704, derived from the Latin capere via the Old French caper."

It's not a bad term is it? There are a lot worse.

However the ref has been demoted to the Championship this weekend due to the error (although will be on VAR in the Prem on Sunday)
A silent punishment.

Although for all of Taylor's sins in that game, giving that penalty on 1 view, in real time was fair enough, the VAR was the one who fucked up.

GON said he didn’t want to hear from them, so that will be there reasoning for not issuing an apology (assuming they actually think it was wrong…) and then they won’t have it bought back up in the media.

Just poking, I ain’t exactly Mr. Blue Lives Matter over here.

I know that “cop” and “copper” used to be considered pejorative terms in the States, but I ain’t policing (excuse the pun) for it.

I know the word 'Plod' is deemed as derogatory, but its a shame.
When I was a little kid, Noddy used to ride his bike over to Big Ears and Mr Plod was always on hand to issue a stern word....
He was just a likeable policeman character in a very endearing series of Noddy books.

Agree. If he had been sent to the screen and still said penalty, then yep all on him but he wasn't even asked to do that
I guess the only caveat is what he said over the mike. If he said something along the lines of 'did he touch him, if so I'm not interested in anything else' then it'd be on him. Otherwise it makes no sense for him to get hit and not Gillett.

Which reminds me: is it pronounced volcanoes as in canoes, or canoes as in volcanoes? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I read this, hadn't heard it before and it tickled me. Thought about c&p-ing to my daughter as she'd find it funny but then didn't.

Then I popped on Facebook and this happened

Vulcuhnoo sounds like an extinct species of bird.

Personally, he should’ve been banned for longer than 3 years. I’d ban them for life, but I guess you have to give people second chances and such? Meh I wouldn’t personally

A lot of Enid Blyton is seen as somewhat out of sync with modern social standards today. For some strange reason it’s almost impossible to find a copy of the three golliwogs.
