General Wolves News

This whole Mr. Miami thing has passed me by, if I’m honest. But I’ve seen quite a lot of people not happy with him on Twitter.

What has he done?

I watched a few of his videos a while ago, initially mildly amusing but after 2 or 3 he gets a bit grating for me

He's an American YouTuber who lives in or around the black country and has adopted the Wolves as his team. His vlogs are high profile enough for the club to have decided to use him in an 'official' sense, so now he does videos previewing the towns and cities where Wolves' next away opponents are based.

Fans don't like him because (i) he's getting attention, and we seem to have a disproportionate number of fans who are naturally bitter the moment anyone else gets some sort of attention, (ii) he's foreign, (iii) he's a 'character', (iv) he wasn't around in the bad old days, and therefore isn't a superfan and deserves derision for that, and (v) probably gets marked down for being minority ethnic and therefore our lovely fans immediately cry out that it's tokenism or that he's undeserving of the attention, which he's only getting because he's black. See the treatment of Manny Singh for a comparator.

All of that said, I understand that some of his non-Wolves videos are a bit dodgy and I've not seen this one where he's apparently taking the piss out of people looking for reduced items in Asda. Not sure that does the club any favours in circumstances when the Wolves Foundation has literally just had a campaign to raise awareness of poverty, hunger, and homelessness.

What I would say is that that's kind of the Wolves' fault for making him a posterboy for the club without doing their due diligence on what his non-Wolves content looks like.

Regardless of the current shemozzle (and Wolves Twitter really is crap at times), it's incredibly naff, like most of our PR output.

This isn't a Fosun thing, we've never done it well.

Comparing Mr Miami to Manny is not on.

One appears to do nothing to warrant the attention [and away tickets...] that the club is giving him and the other is a genuinely brilliant bloke who raises tens of thousands for charity.
I can't understand the stick Manny gets and he's also a genuine fan, regardless of what some say. The other is a wannabee celebrity that's using our brand [here we go again] for self promotion.

The only point of comparison was the specific issue of bitterness amongst fans who complain about the club being woke/pc/tokenist when using POC to advertise the brand.

Kids these days have a great opportunity thanks to the footballers these days, but I always remember my experiences as a young lad, being given a lift as a 18 year old to Wolverhampton bus station in Mark Kendalls car with Thommo and Mutchy in there as well after watching them train at a Molineux was fantastic. Also Bully being told off by Graham Turner as me and him exchanged keepy uppys on the old North Bank car park. Those were the days my friend.
