Footballing Myths

Wembley is great day out, says who?
Pubs are rammed 5 hours before kick off as are the fan areas, if you get a carry out from the Sainsbury’s or coop on Wembley way there’s no toilet facilities unless you que for ages in the fan area. Food is extortionate and getting away at the end takes forever.
I've always enjoyed Wembley and I've been several times. But then again I'm not reliant on alcohol to have a good time so most of the above doesn't affect me.

Yes it can be slow getting out again but by that time you've had your fun so it doesn't bother me.

We had a great day at Wembley last time out (apart from the result obvs) like you I'm not bothered about the pub, don't remember any issues getting out

International football is subject to some huge myths simply because a lot of broadcasters can tell the general population what they want to hear without question.
England players can’t take the pressure of playing for England. Really so playing for Man Utd or Liverpool has no pressure does it?
Scotland players are more passionate about playing for their country than England players are expect that line in the lead up to 19th June.
It’s rubbish also consider the number of players in Scotland squad that are actually English.
England fans think they’ll win every tournament, er no we don’t even when we’ve had good sides we’ve been circumspect about our chances.

Man Utd signed Ronaldo for a substantial sum after seeing him play 1 friendly against them.

Best sporting myth I heard involved Steven Redgrave. After the 2000 Olympics it was announced that Redgrave body was that highly tuned that now he was retiring, he would have to in effect have to train down otherwise he could be susceptible to a heart attack.
In 2003 Keith Woods was at a function before the world cup after which he was due to retire. He met Redgrave at it & started discussing retirement basically said he wouldnt have the motivation to do what Redgrave did after retirement.
To which Redgrave replied "dont worry, it's a load of bollocks, I did it for 2 days and then thought fuck it"

World Cups are good. I have been watching since 1978. Bits of 82, some of 86, a couple of games in 94. 98 was decent I will give you. In my time watching I don’t remember an epic tournament with brilliant close games all over the place.

I generally enjoy all world cups, football may not be the best at times but always seem to be more interesting than Euros.

Still love World Cups but back in days of yore they were more exciting as it was a rare chance to see the top players in action as pre Premier League and TV deals there was far less opportunity to see the creme de la creme so the WC had a more mystical quality about it

“The West Ham way”. Look, they aren’t and never have been Holland 1974.

They call themselves the academy of football the arrogance and high opinion they’ve got of themselves is incredible. Yes they’ve produced some good players but not even close to what Man Utd have churned out in the last 30 years.

Another one is “Fergie would’ve been sacked if they’d lost the cup game at Forest” no he wouldn’t
