They felt the same. I hit the point where I was eligible for a pay rise that would have been £1.35 p/h...so they made me redundant.

Finished uni in June 2003. Contract at HBOS didn't start until August. I had literally £42 left of my overdraft (no actual money). So what am I going to do.
Went down to Wednesfield Job Centre (it's not there any more) to see if I could claim dole and/or if they had anything for me. A) No, you need to phone this number, and we don't think you can and B) No.
Bollocks. Fuck it, I'm going for a pint.
Talked myself into a job just chatting to the bar staff (wasn't even hustling for work, just talking) and started the very next day.
Would never ever ever happen now, they hadn't got a clue who I was, I could have been anyone.
