Another tragedy, another unwise rush to judgement from Nigel Farage. At 8.35pm on Friday night, less than two hours after the horrific attack in Magdeburg, Reform’s leader responded to the attack by tweeting, “We have allowed people who hate us and our values into Europe. Christmas is their target. Any guesses why?”
His Reform colleague Rupert Lowe weighed in too. “The time for empty messages of solidarity has long finished, it means nothing in the face of such wicked barbarism,” he wrote. “We cannot go on harbouring those who hate us, and everything we stand for. Europe doesn’t need thoughts or prayers from its politicians, it needs them to wake up.”
Not a word in either of those statements for the victims or their families. And no clarifications issued by Farage or Lowe since it became clear that the alleged attacker was not quite who they expected.

To be truthful there were some pretty repugnant politicising of the terrorist attack from both the left and right. The person involved was obviously not all there and the security forces don't look to have done their job properly. It is not right to make political advantage out of the killing of innocent people.

And Jenrick grew up in Wolverhampton of all places! He's no Wulfrunian in my book. Wulfrunians are generally proud of their heritage and generally welcoming to new arrivals. Compared to many, many places in the UK and beyond it has been a good and safe place to live and prosper.

Farage claimed he could help with talks on trade, tariffs, intelligence-sharing and countering terrorism. He said: “I know these people, and in terms of trade, in terms of defence and in terms of intelligence, the US is our most important relationship in the world – forget Brussels.”

'Intelligence-sharing' especially being just oh so slightly impossible on farage's part.

The average South Banker could do a better job on any of those points.
