FA Cup 5th Round Bristol City (A) 17.02.2019

My Dad was saying something similar the other day - think the older generation has been spoilt with Wembley trips. I'm happy to go for the semi-final, last time (and only time) I've been was 1988

I'm of the 'older generation' but will still try to go if we make the Semi's - just think that it takes a bit of the magic away from the Final (only time I have seen Wolves there was the 74 League Cup - wasn't a bad game  )

'88 was good too, but given I was only 9 I don't remember much!

I've never been to Wembley, old or new.

It's stupid now though with the Semi's being held there. Assuming I could get tickets I couldn't afford 2 trips to Wembley so would probably have to miss the SF and gamble on seeing us there in the final instead.

Would be better than the villa park semi, that was shit on every level.

Never seen Wolves at Wembley. Sherpa Van vs Burnley and the weirdo Mercantile Credit competition was the season before I started going, then the year after Roger Hansbury happened. Poodle permed bastard.

Part timer, you're older than me and I was at both. :)

At the age of 7 I was unable to travel independently to London, nor do I think my 50p a week pocket money would have stretched to a ticket :(

Times have changed though, I think I've got the hang of it now.

I tell you what. We get to the semi or the final and you get two tickets I will pay you for both hows that? You would have to put up with me though!

We had Torquay in the two legged semi finals. Beat them 2-1 away, Bully scored right at the end.

We won the league that year, so you'd think we'd get through from there, we were way better than Torquay who were Division Four at the time.

Kendall was injured, Stowell was cup tied so we had Hansbury on loan to play purely in this competition. He was shit. Let in an absolute jokeshop freekick, stood on his post and Mark Loram just popped it in the other side. Lost 2-0. No Wembley.

He had a poodle perm, as was semi-fashionable in the mid to late 80s amongst dart players and Tears for Fears fans.

And IIRC correctly another Ex Cambridge Utd and Norwich keeper a la Ruddy and Cambs favourite Norris. We do pick keepers up from there!

Here is a gif of "that goal"

Presumably we had Bristol watched last night. I'm assuming Nuno doesn't go, so who do send to do our spying?

Cathro certainly would have seen the game. Nuno probably had their game on Sky last night

I mean look at it. What are you doing. What do you think is going to happen there, peabrain?

Also the state of our ground. I know I was there and everything, but still.

I never sat in the John Ireland before the pitch moved, but imagine sitting there and not being able to see a fucking thing without binoculars.

It was much better as a little kid squashed up against the fences at the front of the South Bank [emoji849]

My first season ticket was the lower tier of the JI. Such an odd view

If our changes extend beyond Saiss, Ruddy and Vinagre I think we'll get rolled over. Personally barring injuries I'd play the first 11 whilst honouring any commitment Nuno has given to Ruddy.

Clearly it was miles away, but the pitch was off centre to the South Bank as well, which gave the illusion of being a bit closer than you really were.

Watched Bristol twice recently on TV.
They knock it around very nicely and look far better than last season.
Seem to have some strength in depth too, Wieman came off the other night but his replacement was way better.
IF we play as we like too, then it's going to be a cracking match.

I was at Wembley for the Sherpa Van final. Really thought it was the start of our return. Didn't expect It t o take another 30 years. Also, if you think the view was distant from the John Ireland, bear in mind that by the Torquay match the pitch had been moved about 25 yards closer!
