FA Cup 4th Round

Would it not be bloody typical to reach our first Wembley final in 30 plus years yet have no fans there!
Happy enough with that draw.
 
Honestly wouldn't bother me if I never went to Wembley ever again. Shithouse.

Me too. 1980, what a day..... Down and back on the train. Couldn't even talk on the way back my voice was that fucked. 15 mins of "Newbon, Newbon clean the boots" did it..
 
A report in the paper from back in the day. I guess most of you on here remember those shit days, but some won't. It's the reason most fans from that era are never surprised when shit goes down for the Wolves. It became endemic. And why it always makes me chuckle when i see what goes down on SM when Wolves have the temerity to draw a game.....

If you thought Leeds fans were getting shit at work today it was nothing compared to the shit I got at work after that. It was traumatising. And no , I was not there. Fucking good job. I was distraught. Wolves have had some low points in my lifetime but none beat that
 
It’s hard to believe the first Chorley game was closer to the 1950s glory days than it is to today. You can see why the fans who witnessed Honved and the like found losing to Chorley humiliating, especially as the FA Cup was taken very seriously in the 1980s.
 
Putting the hugely embarrassing part to one side. (As I was just 10 at the time and as things like SSN didn't exist, I really can't remember much mocking) was the result that much of a shock? We were a club in freefall so losing to a Non League side (no clue what level Chorley were at the time) surely wouldn't match up to say, Sutton beating Coventry. Just another expected kick in the bollocks for a team still struggling to get back up off the floor
 
I can't wait to see their poor National League North left back have a go at keeping up with our Adama. They'd do better playing a whippet in defence.

My sister works at Chorley Hospital and has gone in with her Wolves hat and scarf this morning.
 
The Chorley tie isn't about revenge for me, it's instead, a way of excorsising some ghosts of the past.

Edit. I was far too young to remember it. My memories start sat in the John Ireland looking at a battered ground just before the rebuild started.

I was 14 and got destroyed by a predominantly Villa fan base at school - one of the reasons I hate them way more than Albion. In the cold light of day a non league team beating a Division 4 one isn't that shocking, but after 3 relegations in a row and only 6 years removed from winning a still valuable League Cup it wasn't viewed that way - even though we got knocked out the prior year by losing 6-0 to Rotherham. Chorley weren't even in what we'd know as the Conference they were a level lower than that and couldn't even play at their real home and is wasn't deemed safe enough.
It was also before the Coventry example which yes was bigger with them being the current Cup holders and in Div 1, Sutton were a level above Chorley.
 
I was just using the Coventry game as an example of a true shock.

So essentially this was just another kick in the bollocks for a set of fans already struggling to get back up off the floor. So glad my proper memories of Wolves started as we kick started the revival
