Ex-Wolf Watch

Trialist ex-Wolf Max Clayton (played for us in a friendly under Ken in 2014, looked like we were going to sign him...then we didn't and a few weeks later he signed for Bolton) now runs a pizza place in Crewe.

How on earth do you remember Max Clayton from a friendly, ten years ago? Have you ever taken The Turing test?

To be fair, he was talked right up at the time as being the next big thing.

He's well beyond the Turing test, would need the Voight-Kampff test...

Shame for him, never seemed to get over that ankle injury aside from the odd performance here or there. Wish him well. He made Lambertball sufferable.

Plaudits for Connor Ronan from Colorado's season post-mortem:

Connor Ronan, the Irish international midfielder [Colorado] brought in this winter, adds almost nothing defensively, but he is a wizard on dead balls and useful both on the break and in a deep-lying playmaker position in possession.
He’s also just 25 years old, so should be a building block for the next half-decade. He needs a bodyguard next to him in a double pivot, but it’d be worth it for the quality he can bring on the ball.

The Beckham documentary meaning a new generation of people are discovering Glenn Hoddle is an arse is something I can support. Even if it's for the wrong reasons

Apparently a decent coach. Fucking appalling man manager.

A lot of our mid-2000s players say he's a great coach but I'm not really sure what they mean. Surely to be a good coach it has to translate to how the team actually plays on a matchday? And we were totally shit to watch with no more than mediocre results to compensate, I didn't like watching his Chelsea/England/Spurs teams either. Did well at Swindon when he was still playing and was the best footballer in the division by a million miles I suppose.

Mick McCarthy gets written off as a dinosaur but I enjoyed watching his Wolves team a million times more than I enjoyed watching Glenn Hoddle's. Pound for pound he was also a much better international manager than Glenn Hoddle was too.

Well, except the one with Roger Johnson and Jamie O’Hara
I saw the highlights of our 2-2 draw in the Norwich game in Mick’s last season (someone shared it on Twitter).

My goodness, the defending is absurdly bad. Johnson is towing a caravan and just wonders around. You have a right hand side of Zubar and Hunt ffs. Milijas centre midfield in a flat 442.

Hey, big Zubes saved a point for us!

He was my original Hwang. 🥲 Except that poor Ronald was truly, irrevocably dire at football.

Taylor Perry with a late equaliser for Shrewsbury at Cambridge (or Ryan Bennett's Cambridge as we're contractually obliged to call them)
