Ex-Wolf Watch

SEBs recent story, and his demise was a bit heartbreaking tbh. Watching us in the championship in the promotion season he was the one player I was convinced would be able to make the step up. Recall us playing norwich and he scored a hat trick, practically won the game single handed, and he was FURIOUS with our defending, especially the last goal resulting in a 3-3.

I thought he would make the step up as well and think he was seriously underused in the first season up. I don't think he made many starts at all. Probably all three seasons in the PL in fairness but the first was where the impact was expected, from me at least.

Think that he started the vast majority of games when fit up to mid-January. A terrible miss vs Wigan in a terrible game (at which point he'd scored one penalty all season) and then Mick went exclusively one up top, and clearly Doyle was the man for that job.

Yeah unfortunately back then we didn't have the players to play 2 out and out strikers as we needed the extra body in midfield. That first season, Doyle was superb up top on his own the ball used to stick to him like glue.

Sportings pressing when they lose the ball is mad.

Turned into some player, pity he couldn’t settle here.

I thought that was nonsense? Didn't he move because he was frustrated he wasn't playing?
Maybe so, I was always lead to believe he couldn’t settle in the area but you could be right.

Yeah the didn't settle narrative was put out by friendly media sources. That said, I'm not sure where he and we were at the time he'd have got many more minutes. Wrong time, wrong place

The 5-3-2 we played with Jota and Raul up top would've been perfect for Pote in behind but Nuno preferred the Spanish fraud instead ☹️

Yeah, there was a few if only under Nuno and the Portuguese influx, Vithina was another, never really given a chance

Leon Clarke rocks up at Rushall Olympic

Leon got a whole three games at Hartlepool...then got catapulted miles down the pyramid.

Shame we didn't do that in 2004.
