Definitely plan on funding a holiday by betting against Benfica whenever they go 1-0 down.

I really don't understand football sometimes.

They elect club presidents in Portugal, there's an election coming up at Benfica and the current incumbent Rui Costa is very unpopular. Lage is someone who Benfica fans have good memories of (even if they have been slightly tainted) so it's pretty much just Rui Costa trying to keep himself in the job.

Schmidt was a shit manager but he also fought with fans and with the board over transfers. Lage is a yes man who will be grateful for the opportunity, do what he's told and won't pick fights with a notoriously volatile fan base.

He's also cheap and they've just had to pay Schmidt €15M to get rid of him.

Bruno Lage's previous contract with Benfica was until 2024.

That’s what he gets for spelling his last name differently from mine!

Shout outs to Ellis Island for changing my family’s surname because they couldn’t be arsed to double check.

A really strange kid, but if he's happy then fair play to him
I guess being a footballer is like being anything else. If Marshall was more dedicated to his profession he could have been more successful than he is.

Most of us if we had the right diet and exercised more would be in better shape than we are.

I could probably halve my portion sizes (I eat pretty healthy TBF) and spend less time binge watching TV, but it's fun and I'm lazy.

I'm happy though, and I think Ben Marshall is too. So as you say "fair play".

Semi-interesting article about the impact clubs like Maidenhead picking up (relatively) huge paydays off the backs of players like Kilman can have.

Didn't realize Chris Smalling was also a Maidenhead product!
Too many Maids in this pyramid!
