Everton 1-1 Wolves - verdict thread

Is his argument that he was trying to grab his shirt? Doesn't look like that at all given he's got his whole hand around all of Tolu's hair.

It's a bit like spitting to me - maybe a step down in severity but just similarly shitty behaviour. I always found it odd how funny people seem to find the Crouch one.
This is what I was saying after it. He could quite easily have been challenging for the ball, went the grab shirt and hair is there instead. I find it unlikely he thought ‘I’m going to challenge here and have his dreds a good old pull’

This is all immaterial as the rules and the rules, and it is a red card. No question.

I just think because of who it was it’s been made out to be far worse and premeditated, as Keane is abit of a dick

I really don’t understand why it’s hard to believe a player did exactly that when the evidence is indisputable.

… in the same few minutes as one of his team mates also got carded for, otherwise inexplicably, behaving like a child. It’s not only believable, it literally happened. Crazy.

I don’t think anyone is disputing that? You’re missing the point. He’s clearly pulled his hair no one is disagreeing.

I’m saying it may not be pre meditated like some are suggesting.

By that definition every contact and action is deliberate

Normally when you grab something it’s deliberate! It’s not like a mistimed tackle or a clash of heads.

It’s not beyond the wit of man he’s gone to grab a shirt is the point. Not going to agree and anyhow we both agree it’s a red card.

When they fail the appeal, does he get a game added on is that not a thing?

I think only if you're being absolutely ridiculous. Like if we'd appealed Karl Henry's at Wigan or something.

That’s discretionary. Unfortunately not in this case.

Im not buying it was unintentional. He clearly had a big fistful of all of his hair.
Yeah, I saw it again earlier on SSN.

1) The way he grabs looks very different to how you would grab a shirt
2) It's pretty obvious that hair feels a lot different to polyester. So if it was an accident, he could have just let straight go. He didn't, he held on, jumped and yanked down

Hasn't happened for about 15 years in the PL as the appeals are all before the next game. They used to add the game on if the player played a match before the appeal.

As for the pull, it's clearly deliberate, Ped on Toffee TV who I quite like even says so. It then becomes about whether the punishment fits the crime, but that's a different discussion

Whether the punishment fits the crime is a fair comment. However by the rules it’s a red card. So I’m not really sure what they’re hoping to gain from the appeal.

Arguing whether the rule is correct is a different discussion, but in its current guise it’s a red card.
