Everton 0-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Another assured performance. Jonny is such a baller. Not sure that we'd have won that game without Neves, so just as well he didn't get the 10th yellow earlier on.

First half was turgid rubbish when we didn't need to be. Team selection and play was far too conservative with Marçal and Donk. Slow, ponderous and dull, the opposite of Thursday.

I really don't want to see Donk or Marçal again, they're just shit.

But the second half was much better, credit to Bruno for turning it round at half time. Much better tempo, threw the shackles off Pod and allowed Neves to be Neves and run the game.

Kilman was good (not Boly levels but still good) and Jonny was magnificent for the whole game. Cuts inside supports well and his distribution is simple yet brilliant.

Fabio was good off the bench as was Trincao.

Great goal from Coady after a superb cross from Neves.

Absolutely awful first half, no idea what we were playing at. Back to zero tempo and on top of that we were really slack on the ball.

Stepped it up second half and they couldn't react as they are shite. What a pair of rank signings van der Beek and Alli are, one nonentity and one who's basically given up. So easy once we scored, a quality goal too.

Jonny MOTM with Neves a close second, good to see Kilman back on form too. Marçal however can get in the sea and Podence behaved like a prat for much of the game.

I get where Everton are but to play a rotated lineup (granted lightly) and win away from home so close to a previous game is always good stuff at this level, I seemed like one of the few people fairly happy with the lineup too from those that posted.

OptaJoe has a tweet out that only LFC have won more games or points than us this year, we have 7 wins and 21 points to there 8 wins 25 points.

That's fantastic even with the performance issues we had in some games and maybe one or two sides playing less games with the way fixtures have worked out.

Yep only won a couple of free kicks in dangerous areas, no goals or assists in the 8 minutes or so he was on the pitch, absolutely scandalous !
Had two key decisions to make in that time and got them both wrong but yeah, he was ace.

Very happy with how it played out. For sure he put out the team he did because he knew that for 30 mins Everton would be trying to win the midfield battle.
For me Bruno played it perfectly. Jonny, Joao and Ruben imperious, kilman back and almost to his best. Sa brilliant. Even Fabio and Trincao played their parts well. Great win that was a potential banana skin.
Onwards and upwards...

Wolves boss Bruno Lage tells Match of the Day: "Today I am very happy. That is the way we need to play every game, or try to. Sometimes when you lose it is important to continue to focus. We did that and after three defeats, two victories. Very good.

On what he said at half-time: “It was a fight because they are a big team with top players. Lampard has a lot of experience now as a manager. 5-0 they come to be aggressive, they come to press and give a good answer in front of their times. After we controlled that and the plan worked well. Sometimes the plan goes right and today it was like that."

Hard fought win, very pleasing result. Neves and Moutinho were outstanding in midfield and the former's cross for Coady's goal was excellent. Sa was excellent again apart from the one poor ball out which immediately came back at us and put us under pressure. Jonny again looked like he'd never been away. Podence frustrates with his play acting and holding the ball for too long when attacking and constantly making the wrong choice. I also thought Silva looked good when he replaced Raul.

Very pleasing couple of results in the past 4 days following 3 straight defeats, lets make it 3 on Friday night against Dirty Leeds ahead of the break.

Lampard does not have a lot of experience as a manager. Well maybe more than Bruno 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t expect Neves to be at Wolves next season. But we must surely be looking for a HUGE fee. He’s still very young, really good and has 4 top-flight seasons worth of proof.

I don't want us to play like that every game. I want us to play like we did against Watford.
