If Southgate quits we could always appoint Nuno
See, I think that's a false take on the game. It wasn't just a battle, Scotland played every bit as technical a game as England and looked just as good on the ball as England. Gilmour was outstanding.Pretty grim as said before this Scotland will always their game v England. We got drew into the battle and didn’t keep it technical.
In the big picture a draw suits us better than Scotland.
Think thats pretty unfair to Scotland tbh. I thought they played well without having a huge amount of threat up frontWe were shite tonight, so we're they. All they offered was diving and spoiling tactics. That's fine as thats what they should be doing - we had no answer.
Disagree. They needed it to be a L1 derby game and that's what it was. It was up to us to deal with that.Think thats pretty unfair to Scotland tbh. I thought they played well without having a huge amount of threat up front
We do have to move away from Wembley and it's only a better route for one round as we'd be very likely to bump into France in the quarter final (in Russia).Yep. For all the mass wankathon over a draw at Wembley they needed a win tonight. We end up with a better route too.
Absolutely and 100% agreeWell, minus crappy set piece defending (we did at least do that fairly well), that was all very Wolves 2020/21. Slow, laboured possession, lack of movement, tactical plan seemed to be to give it to one of the good players and hope they do something. Deeply unimpressive.
It's a different game of course if Stones scores but hey, he didn't (even though he should have). Rarely did we look in command despite having a better player man-for-man in basically every position bar one.
Substitutions were crap. Sterling had a mare all night but has somehow played the 90, it was obvious that as well as Phillips played on Sunday, he wasn't doing the same thing tonight and we needed more in that area. It was no good just making like-for-like changes, the whole system wasn't working against Scotland's shape. Grealish came on and was just interested in playing for fouls. Didn't do anything else. Don't play Rashford down the middle and play it long to him, we have an actual target man on the bench if you want to do that.
We're not getting Kane into the game and he isn't playing well either. No idea why as he finished the season excellently. There's no phantom injury, we just aren't making it work (neither him individually nor the team).
I suppose we are basically through whatever happens, but that's no real barometer. With the quality we have, we shouldn't be playing like that.
