Euro 2020

Had to be a red if it's not a foul by Schick, that was the only question for me.

Pundits continue to talk about the Dutch like they have Gullit and Van Basten. They looked ok in an easy group and on paper there isn't much between them and the Czechs. If they lose it's not really a huge upset.

Spot on. Been rubbish in the start of World Cup qualifying too.

That should be game over. Well executed, Wijnaldum had to take Holes out though.

Czech Republic goalkeeper is available on a free transfer...

The Dutch were getting a lot of hype about progressing from the weakest group.
They were second best before the red card, Czechs look well drilled.

Just about every other option in central midfield started a game for Portugal this tournament ahead of Neves now I think?

I think so. Fernando Santos is a clown though, if it weren't for ex-Port Vale and Northampton hero Robert Page being thrown into a job because the FAW can't be bothered making a decision then he'd be the worst manager at the tournament by a distance. Awful football, nonsense selections, consistently.

I expect this to be Santos last game in charge, said if before the quality of international managers is second rate. Lowe, Southgate, Deschamps, Enrique, De Boer, Santos, Martinez.

A lot of ex pro’s have given good evidence this week that they don’t study games and are no more knowledgeable than a educated fan.
The amount I’ve heard say both FB for Portugal were dreadful against Germany, if you can’t see that they were both hopelessly exposed by the most immobile centre midfield pairing ever then why bother?

Wasn’t really the fact they were playing to immobile midfielders. The issue was the same as we’ve seen for and against Wolves many times.

Portugal sat off which allowed the WBs to get high up the pitch. The front 3 weren’t doing the work the other way and then you’ve got two CMs with no one to mark as Germany’s two CMs played deep. If Portugal attempted to control the game then they’d have dominated the middle of the pitch much like Watford did against us in that game at Molineux. They still could have sat off with a back 4 though but would have been better off with a midfield 3 with the two wider players covering the marauding WBs, much like Donck and Moutinho did for us when they played in the 3.

Seems basics to me but not pundits/ex pros/ an international football manager.

Portugal are shit, and I mean shit to watch. Like driving a Ferrari around in second gear forever.
