Euro 2016 watch

It isn't the easy option at all is it? That goal should not have stood. End of story. And that is why the Dutch have 2 against England's 1.

Is it not now the case that you have to be trying to play the ball to be offside? Even though he was clearly interfering with play?

How about straight up obstruction rather than offside then?

He had the nerve to be wittering on about the benefits of playing two up front earlier, how does that tally with playing Carl Cort and Leon Clarke on the wing?
Not seen Kenny Miller at right wing back since he left Wolves too often either!

England have not played well. It just disappoints me that people take the easy option when their team are not winning.

Go and re-read all of the above posts and you'll realise how silly your last sentence is.

Roy is clearly bored of this and tries to end the game early

Don't care that we lost, still lots of positives in that game for me.

Anyway enough about that, on a few occasions England have looked half decent, but our build up has been too slow and predictable. Holland have looked a lot brighter on the ball.

The build up for the goal was very good build up play, the defining factor in the result was due to incompetence of the ref.
England weren't great but weren't deserving of defeat.

Rose, Milner and Sturridge did themselves no favours tonight. All very poor and all of them are far from certain picks.

Positives

Smalling
Walker
Vardy
Lallana

Drinkwater was neat without being anything beyond functional. MOTM decision is just weird. Plus, but not enough of one to make the plane to France.
Decent little Walcott cameo which may give Roy a bit more of a difficult decision

Negatives

Forster looks a worry with the ball at his feet
Rose is not very good
Sturridge is lazy as fuck

Not worried at all about getting beat, might help to stop all the usual hype and wank predictions before the euros.

Been out tonight so not been able to watch the game.

What is the concensus on our starting eleven vs Russia now assuming everyone is fit?

Hart

Walker - Stones - Cahill - Baines

Dier - Henderson

Lallana - Alli - Welbeck

Kane

Something like that? Maybe Vardy for Lallana. We all know Henderson will start there so that's why I've put him in. Stones takes risks trying to play out at the back but he probably has to play given our other options.

Dutch parked the bus but you have to be able to deal with that.
On the plus side we never looked very troubled and that second goal should have been disallowed.
Team almost picks itself now. Walcott did OK but Sturridge should be worried.

Baines isn't even in this squad so I doubt he's going to be playing this summer.

I think we may lean towards the diamond that we ended the Germany game with behind Rooney/Vardy and Kane. It won't be a 4-2-3-1 anyway, Roy has been playing with just the one holding player since the world cup.

Baines? I don't think he'll make it
Barkley for Henderson

I am surprised you left Smalling out. I think he is a certainty for the starting eleven.

I forgot Smalling. Yeah he'd play. Personally I'd be pairing him with Cahill. We need experience in our CB pairing given our defensive frailties IMO.

Hart
Clyne

Smalling
Rose (Shaw if fit)
Dier
Henderson
Wishere (if fit)
Welbeck
Kane
Rooney

Would be my guess

Vardy, Rooney, Sterling/ Barkley to be on as impact subs.
