Quality goal, all started by a centre half playing out from the back and looking for a pass to break lines. Then forward players having composure and expressing themselves, it's not been great tonight but that goal shows what we can do.

I'm a fan of a ball playing centre half, I think they are key to most great teams tbh. Yes Stones is raw, but he will.only get better the more he plays.

Vardy is on absolute fire this season!

Stones is class. We finally get a centre back who is happy to have the ball on the ground and to pass it out rather than hoof it and there are still people that moan! :icon_lol:

Good goal from us. Not a huge fan of Lallana but that was lovely play in the build up.

I'd rather he was better defensively and wasn't as pretty to look at on the ball personally but he has just started the move that we scored from with a lovely pass!

The defensive bit will come, he's a young lad and still learning. Smalling is only really just fulfilling his potential and he's 26, Stones isn't far off and he's 21. As you can tell i really rate him.

Like Slink says, Stones needs a move to improve his defending - won't happen under Martinez. I wonder if Pep will take a look in the summer, his kind of centre half.

Lets face it, City need to revamp their centre backs completely. It would be a great move for Stones. Everton are stunting his growth under the most overrated manager in top flight football.

The Ferdinand comparison is a fair one. I don't particularly trust Stones defensively but if it's a choice between him and Cahill I would play him.

I think he has to move and soon, i would seriously love to see him go to City and see what Pep can do with him. He would encourage him to be what he clearly wants to be and that would only be good for him and England.

Hadn't accounted for the Martinez factor, I imagine he would be right up Pep's street

Last 15 was much better. We hadn't played well but before the goal Barkley and Lallana started to have an impact on the game. Not sure the system suits these players but they've got better as game went on. Rose struggled to start with but improved. Think I'd go with Stones and Smalling at the tournament as first choice pairing.

Definitely, I don't rate Cahill any more and Jags is past it. Smalling has had a great season.
