Coronavirus

United States has reached ten million cases. Texas is the 1st state to reach one million. El Paso is an absolute disaster. The virus is everywhere yet some how it feels as safe as ever (famous last words). The local hospitals are at their quietest in several months. I know quite a few people who have had the virus, but none of them for at least 3 months.

someone I know in the states said the following to me a couple of days ago:
on February 16th, there were only 15 confirmed cases of Covid19 in the US.
In the last 266 days, we've averaged 36, 954 confirmed cases per day.

Good to know how to spell Wolves in Swedish (y) (Looks hard to pronounce, though.)

You can almost hear all the blogs and articles being deleted:

first european country to record 50k deaths.
when you consider how we observed what was happening in italy during february for example, and you consider how many deaths they, spain and others were seeing, it is pretty concerning how we have overtaken them all on deaths.

There was a tsunami on its way and we were given warning it was about to happen. Instead of taking note, we did nothing until it hit our shores, whilst the pm finished books, went on holidays and didn’t take it serious enough to attend meetings on it. Mates of mates have made killings on unregulated contract awards in the meantime.

No need for an inquiry.

He needed to go to Mustique really. 2 weeks relaxation was important at that crucial time and he wanted to be back for the rugby.

Remember, Newmarket's own Matt Hancock had to let the Cheltenham Festival go ahead too. Just the 250,000 attendance over the week.

Cheltenham and the Liverpool game. Truly monstrous decisions in hindsight. And predictably so with even minimal foresight. We should have been in lockdown well before either event. Like three or four weeks minimum.

I have occasionally thought of my own personal responsibility, as we could see it was unfolding and yet I still went to the Brighton game and didn't change anything from what I normally do, at all.

But then I'm no public health expert or epidemiologist, if you don't tell me what to do then I'm not going to know, am I.

The most heinous decision was discharging from hospitals into care homes. Under every logic under the sun that was going to kill a lot of people. But Dom wanted to kill old people to promote that immunity bollocks.

For me this was manslaughter

One of the girls at work has started to show symptoms over the weekend, so my work have instructed us to go and get tested ASAP. So I'm off to Newbury Showground this afternoon...

I'm sure you're not bothered but your work are wrong to instruct that, tests are meant for those showing symptoms (excluding the mass testing areas like Liverpool).

Even people who live with those who have a positive case are advised not to get tested unless they show symptoms and to just self isolate.

I agree and have already kicked back at it, but he (my boss) is adamant.

I was surprised to see there were over 1000 testing slots available for today in Oxford, Newbury AND Kidlington (all within 10-15 miles of our office).

Fingers crossed for a negative, mate.
