I was having a conversation the other day about ' how many of us know someone who has actually been tested positive for Covid ' and it seemed that not many of us actually knew anyone, including me, until yesterday. A family member on my hubbys side tested positive two days ago.

I know a couple who have. I also knew one guy who died.

know of a number of colleagues who have tested positive/had it. Know of at least 3 colleagues who died in May, and also one bowls colleague (who wasn't old, around the same age as me). Also, 2 whole families (step daughters cousins) all have had it. In reality, one step daughter is bound to have had it, and the whole family was ill with cold symptoms for a week too. Am also not convinced by mrs jelly's negative test last month I have to say.

Speaking daily with people testing positive at the moment, although that is to be expected given where I work.

We had 5 people tested positive at work just after big lockdown started, 2 were in hospital, another driver tested positive a few weeks later, got blue lighted to hospital struggling to breathe, he died about a week later

Jesus. When I read things like this I realise how selfish championing herd immunity can be perceived - one thing I have considered just to get my own existence back to normal.

No life is worth that. I'm one of the lucky ones who can count on one hand the people I know who have had COVID.

Got a negative test result come through a couple of days ago and had no symptoms through the whole isolation.

All my partner's had is a change in her sense of taste for 24 hours (which prompted her to take a test). Very subtle symptom and quite worrying that many people could ignore it as it isn't a hacking cough/temperature. Surprised I didn't catch it from her before we were isolating too.

Isolation ends Friday (presuming I don't show symptoms between now and then!), so have had it easy really. It's pretty disruptive though, and the response of a couple of my colleagues was a bit odd (bordering on covid shaming) when I first started isolating.

Went out yesterday.

People queuing up to get into H&M. Yeah, that's not something I'm going to do.

Slug & Lettuce was reasonably busy.

Litten was absolutely dead, doubt there were six tables occupied including us. This on a Saturday night at 6.30 and the football was on.

Bella was fully booked and there is absolutely 0% chance that it was households/bubbles only. They never asked (the Litten did, but they were the only place that did).

It will be really interesting if we see a corresponding dip in infections

A couple of my teacher friends seem think October half-term will be extended by a week, but I figure that would have been announced by now if so?

Mind you, this is Boris Johnson, and he is going to announce any circuit breaker at 6.00pm Friday evening to leave businesses scrambling over the weekend into early next week.

I spoke with a few teachers yesterday who said similar. Boris has got himself into shit creek that he doesn't want to do it as it then looks as though Starmer was right and he was wrong.

I can't see a world where he doesn't do it (the circuit breaker, not the half-term extension): Northern Ireland and Wales are and Scotland are bound to follow suit any day now.

firework festival cancelled at the safari park. Was looking forward to it, but understandable.
mrs jelly wondered if the 2 week circuit breaker might be the reason, although nothing has been announced. It's certainly possible, as the fireworks are/were due the 7th and 8th nov, so would tie in.

There are apparently discussions as to whether universities become online only from december, with students isolating through the end of teaching, and therefore making it safer for them to return home for the christmas period. Only rumours though, and unsure how it can be effectively policed. Again, 2.5 million peeps relocating for family engagements that will be indoors is a hugely risky venture at the moment I'd have thought.
