The climate system is nowhere near well enough understood to enable control of it.
The multi-ordered feedbacks that must be involved tell us this. Geo-engineering on false premise is in my view dangerous.
 
It isn't controlling it that is the concern.

It is influencing it, especially in a manner adverse to ourselves/future generations.

You have to establish that the climate does not have a self regulatory control system. What is the step response to an individual parameter?
I do not see an unstable system here.

But no month saw record temperatures - instead each month was consistently warm, according to the Met Office.

A general warming, rather than a specific hot spell that bumped up the average.
 
I think the Central England Temperature record is a good account of the climb out of the Little Ice Age. It is probably not of much use as an indication of global variation over the last couple of decades. Both satalite datasets (RSS/UAH) are flat and even the tortured surface datasets do not match the models. The IPCC agrees with this.

The argument that the LIA, Medieval Warm Period or Roman Warm Period were european localised are doubtful.

Sorry for the brevity at this time but the hideous idea that our climate is controlled by a couple of trace gases needs challenging in view of the necessary unproven positive feedback to water vapour. The scramble to explain the 'pause' is telling.
 
New records in Norway too,every single month warmer than the previous records.
 
When it gets as hot as Spain, all year round, then I'll start to think about whether it's still a good thing.
