I'll be bloody annoyed if Saiss doesn't play for us again.

We aren't good enough to chuck away players like Saiss.

He can't play as the sole DM as he was used under Zenga (too slow) but he'd make a big difference to us with his passing range if we played him as one of a pair. Doesn't matter who you stick him with, they're all about the same quality, just offer slightly different things.

I don't think we ever played Prince in anything approaching the right position.

Lambert is supposed to be a fan of German football, surely they don't play the type of football as we do.

They do not.

There were occasions when Klopp's Dortmund played like we did at Anfield. Nothing wrong with that. We aren't playing that way now though, it's aimless rubbish for the most part.

I think a midfield three of:

Saiss - Price

Prince

Would be interesting. It'll never ever happen though unfortunately.

What I don't understand is why our goalkeepers almost always hoof the ball, it drives me barmy. If you look at Prem goalkeepers the majority pass it out, and that way you keep possession.

Ikeme's distribution (along with most elements of his game) has never been very good. He's incredibly ponderous, he stands around holding the ball in his hands for no reason for 4-5 seconds constantly and waits for everyone to get marked. I wouldn't really trust him to pass the ball out short or be tasked with controlling the ball on a regular basis. The lesser evil is having him just hoof it forward and I suppose it'll only be four times out of ten that he slices it straight out of play.

Lonergan genuinely rivals Paul Jones for dreadful kicking, Burgoyne has distance but not much accuracy at this stage.

He used to bowl the ball out though, not exactly Schmeichal or Murray like, but he doesn't do that anymore. The best you get is the occasional roll out.

I hope he isn't sidelined. Far too good a player for us to be that fussy.

If it happens I will utterly and completely blame fucking Thelwell.
Plenty to blame him for but not this. Surely this is Lambert's call?

I'd like to see Saiss and Evans paired up personally.

No it's Ikeme. He really pisses me off with it. He runs out pretending to try and play it quickly and then deliberately runs into players and then gestures that he can't do it because they are in the way.

Yep, all the time to be fair. Does my head in.

Ikeme
Marshall Williamson Saiss Doherty
Edwards Price
Costa Ronan Weimann
Dicko

That said, when we got promoted, and in the first few months back in the Championshio, we played out from the back (and stuck it to, refreshingly) and Ikeme's distribution from his feet was fine.

Ikeme

Coady - Stears - Hause - Doherty

Price - Saiss

Costa - Bright - Weimann

Dicko

I realise Saiss is a pipe dream and much more likely to be Evans. Possibly switch Ronan for Bright, but based on the team that beat Liverpool it basically picks itself.

I agree with you Langers this is Lambert's call and it was obvious when he took him out of the side for Price after the Cardiff game and talked about being able to press and so on. It's not like we actually press that much so i have no idea how Lambert doesn't see that Saiss should be playing.

Saiss and Evans would be my pairing also but the latter is shit again after last night because he didn't pass the ball forwards to all those players finding fantastic areas in front of him.

If saiss can play centre half for his country surely he can play there for wolves. Especially when we could do with some decent passing out of the back. It may be too soon for Chelsea but the last 15 games he must be worth a punt either next to Williamson or Batth.Or let's do a Stoke and go with four centre halves Stears Batth or Williamson Saiss Hause across the back Price Edwards Evans any two from those three Costa Ronan or Bright Weimann across the middle with Bod or Dicko up top

That gives Marshall Doherty Coady Evans Cav when fit and Mason when fit to be sub's. Play it short and fast.

Saiss plays in a back 3 for Morocco doesn't he? Might be a bit exposed in a standard defence

He played in a 3, Azpilicueta couldn't play in a two for Chelsea

Ikeme

Iorfa Williamson Saiss CBJ

Price Ronan

Costa Bright MGW

Dicko
