Yep it was used in that way a lot after the club was charged in 2023 for homophobic chants towards Chelsea.
Many believed it was “free speech” being suppressed or PC gone mad.
Trying to explain to them that’s not how it works was pointless to a point they called me woke to be try and cause offence.

Thanks guys, "woke" wasn't bothering me as such, as i said it's not a word you hear at all here,ever.
I asked because it was a phrase/insult that seemed to be everywhere in the news, big in america during the election, even featuring regularly on so much of my satellite tv.
I just couldn't be sure i had it in the right box, when i encountered it, but i basically had it right, just a jumped up "politically correct", or a chav word for saying "i don't agree with you".
Still, it's surprising, that even just over here, in Greece, with the news on satellite tv, the papers on the internet, and regular chats with home, how easy it is to lose touch with the little nuances and colloquial trends, but then again, isn't that a big part of the reason i came here????

Being politically correct is about using terminology that is more respectful and inclusive. Being woke is about opposing systemic injustice.
