I know, dumb question, but woke is not a thing here, and hard as i have tried, i can't work out an exact definition, not even close.
Put and old man out of his misery, please.

In it truest sense it just means being aware and respectful of the feelings and world experience of people who are different to you whether that's gender, religion, nationality, ethnicity or sexuality.

Hijacked as a term now by mainly the right to replace political correctness gone mad.

I love that it it's now used to basically just describe anything that Nigel Farage thinks is shit. Pastrami sandwiches, seat belts, ballads written after 1968, Pepsi Max, hugging your kids...it's all woke as fuck. Don't get the cunts started on rainbows. Game's gone man.

Used by people who are fine with calling others snowflakes but don't like being called gammons.

And as Kathy Burke had it, don't like being called a gammon? Fine, back to being a cunt it is, makes no difference to me.

Is this thread subtweeting me?

It's just a bollocks word that shouldn't affect your life in any form if you don't let it. To be filed with "whatever" in the course of history.

What it means in its origins of black American vernacular and what it has become understood to mean are two different things.

Difficulty is, the right are very effective in its transition and using it to describe anyone and anything responsible for changing what they hold on to or restricting where they want to go - essentially the biggest enemy you have is the one you have within and it’s removal the key. We’re all seeing where the momentum is and the results of that playing out.

The insults aimed at those not in tune with its origins and attempts to maintain its original meaning seem worryingly futile by comparison.

How woke went from “Black” to “Bad”:

It’s a comment used by people when they’ve allowed their mouth to race away and offend people. They are then irked that others are offended by their comments.
I’ve said it on here before no one has the right to be the judge and jury on what should and offend someone else. I put the woke comment in the same category as “man up” or “grow a pair” or “you need thicker skin”

Well someone has to be judge and jury but that’s the broader issue of who the arbiter is.

There’s very much a perception the left/wokies have had a grip on that through cancel culture and so on, and the desire to turn ‘speech I disagree with’ into ‘hate speech’ not doing anyone any favours. Online imagery of Police investigating Non-Crime Hate Incidents for example show new levels of absurdity and the backlash is only to be expected.

There’s definitely a case of people wanting punishment that doesn’t match the crime for comments that sometimes lack self awareness and a simple apology and education is all that’s needed not a complete dismantling of someone’s life.
The judge and jury stuff I mentioned is more on a one to one basis.
